Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

The weather was lovely, the newbies had survived their shuttle, and yes, all the holes in the lawn from graduation had been filled and covered with new grass so everything looked normal and pretty. Well, pretty, at least.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Wait, there are more?" Peebee asked, her eyes comically wide. "But they haven't even figured out space travel yet, how -- right. Different universes. Right. See? This is why I could write ten theses on this place and not even scratch the surface."

She sighed, but a slow grin spread across her face. "It's so cool."

Hera laughed. "Enough to keep you happily busy for a while?"

Peebee opened her mouth, shut it with a snap and a frown, then shrugged. "Surprisingly, yes. Have to say I wasn't expecting that, but . . . well, once in a lifetime opportunity, and all."

Hera nodded. "They're all over my galaxy, but I can imagine what it must be like."

"It's just --" Peebee jumped to her feet and started pacing back and forth, gesticulating wildly in her excitement. "So. Many. Different. Universes! Represented right here on the island! So much to find out! It's like the galaxy's biggest gift basket, personalized to me."

You know. If she could focus on any one aspect of it long enough, which was doubtful.

"But that's my thing. What keeps you sticking around?"
futurespacemom: (not so sure about this)

"My galaxy is a bit of a mess right now," Hera said. "It's good to have a place away from that sometimes."

Where the Empire, with any luck, couldn't find them.

"Eesh." Peebee grimaced. "Sorry to hear that? Good enough reason as any, though. Lots of worse places you probably could've ended up."

Hera nodded. "That's true enough. I've been very glad for Fandom."

"Can't say I have any complaints myself," Peebee admitted, then glanced about quickly. "Not that I'm, you know, getting attached to the place or anything, because I'm not --" uh huh, sure, Peebee -- "and it's not your kind of situation or anything, but I'm not in any hurry to go."

"What is your home like?" Hera asked, curious. "I remember you saying something about it being boring?"

"Oh, Hyetiana? It's a rural ball of ice, and it's mostly research scientists," Peebee said, shrugging. "I appreciate the science part, mind you, but socially? Not the most exciting folks to be around."
