Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

The weather was lovely, the newbies had survived their shuttle, and yes, all the holes in the lawn from graduation had been filled and covered with new grass so everything looked normal and pretty. Well, pretty, at least.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Either this was one of the new students or Sidon needed to compliment someone on their excellent new outfit. And, really, he'd started conversation on much less before, anyway.

"Hello, there!" he called out, waving a hand above his head as he approached. "Are you a person I already know hiding in there, or is this someone new for me to meet?"

Well this was new. Sabine didn't recognize the species, but it had been a little disappointing that this place seemed so human.

"You don't know me. I'm just temporary," Sabine said after a moment's thought.

"Temporary?" Sidon asked, his head quirking slightly for a moment before his radiant disposition flooded right back in, and he laughed. "Well, then, we shall have to make the most of what time we have! Allow me to introduce myself." And he nearly radiated with energy as he built up to one of his favorite things in the entire world; really, he didn't understand why more people didn't take advantage of having customary catchphrase greetings.

"I am Sidon!" he announced proudly, with an eager pump of his fist across his chest and the most shimmering sharktoothed grin he could muster. "The Zora Prince! Who might you be, so finely clad and ready for battle?"

One reason Sabine was glad for the helmet: she had a thing going today and it was better that people not see her trying not to smile right now.

"Sabine. No title for me," she said.

"Sabine!" Sidon announced it brightly like it was one of the greatest names he had ever heard. He may have also enjoyed the faint resemblance with his own name if you didn't pay too much attention. "How wonderful! What a pleasure it is to meet you! Are you excited to be enjoying a summer here at the beautiful Fandom High School? I assure you, this place is as exciting as it is unusual, and I, for one, can only speak highly of my experiences here."

Which was him being very selective and optimistic, of course, but that was just the Sidon way.

"I, uh, think I'm here by mistake," Sabine said, and she sort of felt bad saying that to someone so enthusiastic. "I'm only here until it gets sorted out."

"Ah, but there are no mistakes!" said Sidon, the walking talking motivational poster. "Only opportunities! And I surely hope you have the opportunity to enjoy yourself even in just your brief stay here!"

Was he cheering for her adapting? Was he cheering for her to figure it out and get home?
