Aphra was actually in the classroom this week, eating pancakes. She wasn't sure why there'd been pancakes on her desk when she'd arrived, but she wasn't going to turn down free food.

She also wasn't going to say anything about missing class last week, surely they'd figured that much out by now?

"So apparently tomorrow's some big romantic deal on this planet," she said, after swallowing. "Which means it's time for some advice. Don't."

She cut another bite off the pancakes. "I don't mean sex. Hey, you use protection, make sure everyone's clean and having a good time, check no one's going to try eating anyone after, go wild. I mean romance. Romance makes you dumb.

"You say dumb things. You do dumb things. You panic because you realise how serious it's getting maybe there's some backstabbing, and the next few times she sees you she tries to kill you, really it's better all around if there are no feelings involved above the belt."

That was a very specific example, Aphra.

Between the small lecture, the topic's unfamiliarity to him personally, and the applause of some of his classmates on this particular perspective, Sidon shifted a little uncomfortable. Were he not already so red, he might have even blushed a bit, though that expression was clear on his face. But then he thought about it a moment more and a sort of resolve settled in him as he squared his shoulders to pull himself confidently up to his full height to declare, "Well, I think romance is nice. It doesn't make you dumb, it makes you bold and caring. I can see why being in love with someone might be dangerous; when you love someone, you'd be willing to do anything for them, even dangerous things, but I'd rather risk myself for something I love than close myself off from those feelings out of fear! And if that makes me stupid, then I shall gladly be a fool!"
