"Right," Anakin said, slapping a huge briefing paper on each student's desk as they arrived. "Another key problem in diplomacy is trying to keep up with all of the studies and briefings and fights via email about your area of expertise. Here's a hint: you never will. So you will need to learn to skim quickly and be able to talk with authority with very little actual knowledge."

Somewhere Obi-Wan was despairing of Anakin's technique.

"To that end, you have ten minutes to read the tome in front of you and then brief the class on this, your new area of expertise." He smiled. "And pray that no one in the room has more actual expertise than you do."

Ugh, Anakin. Why. The only reason you weren't getting a death glare right now was that even Robert Drake was self-aware enough not to do that to a teacher.

Unless that teacher was himself, of course.

"Well, like... it's a government thing?" Bobby said. "If they seize a bunch of property or whatever. Because it now technically belongs to the government, if there's something illegal about whatever it is they have to actually file a lawsuit against the stuff, instead of whoever first owned it."

Bobby had maybe gotten a little distracted using the Google to look up what 'jurisdiction in rem' was, yes. Look, tiny pocket-sized phones that were also computers were amazing. And the Internet? So helpful.

At least he was enthusiastic?
