Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

There really was just no getting around the fact that it was cold outside today as Fandom welcomed its newest residents. Food? Check. Nametags and lists for people to look at for their siblings and roommates? Check. Bonfire? Definite check, it was hard to miss in the center of the lawn. Temperature away from the fire? Around 40F/5C.

At least there was a lot of warm food and chairs by the fire?

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"You gave me the idea to teach art the other week in the diner," Hardison explained. Logically. "An' now I'm here, where it's cold."

Hardison, this was a gentleman's agreement! You couldn't break it willy-nilly.

"Ignore Steve if he glares," Tony said, holding out an arm for him. "He gets jealous."

It wasn't willy-nilly! It was quite deliberate and premeditated!

...They were going to end up rolling around on the ground and being an excellent role-model for all the students.

"He can come hug, too," Hardison said, wrapping his arms around Tony. And, as a proper Care Bear, he was quite excellent at hugging. "Bet he's really warm. We can steal it."

For all of Tony's love of teamwork and found family, he was a touch-starved little man who would always enjoy this. "He's like a walking space heater. It's amazing," he agreed.

"Jealous," Hardison grumbled. "My space heater is wanderin' around in the woods of Oklahoma or somethin'."

Parker was wonderful, but she didn't manage to heat up the whole giant bed three minutes after crawling into it.

Hardison shrugged. "Eliot just needed a bit of time to himself after the holidays," he said, figuring Tony could probably guess a bit between the lines. He was a super-genius after all. But this way, Hardison wouldn't feel like he was betraying Eliot's confidence. "Go out, be one with nature, rough it, all that stuff people do outdoors for reasons."

Completely inexplicable reasons.

Tony made a face at the nature part. Because city boy through and through.

"Feel free to come by if he stays out in nature much longer."

They could get a head start on their drinking plans.

"We're headin' over to Paris as soon as the picnic's over," Hardison said with another squeeze and an appreciative smile. "Gonna meet up tomorrow night, but Parker loves goin' to museums to scope out their security."

She didn't get the Louvre's art, but could wax on about the security measures for hours. It was adorable.

"That'd be nice," Hardison said. "Does it do chocolate? Cause I might be able to convince Parker not to make me tandem jump offa the Eiffel Tower if I can distract her with chocolate."

Normally, Hardison was careful with the amount of chocolate he let Parker near. But his life was on the line here. Along with his dignity and self-respect.
