Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

There really was just no getting around the fact that it was cold outside today as Fandom welcomed its newest residents. Food? Check. Nametags and lists for people to look at for their siblings and roommates? Check. Bonfire? Definite check, it was hard to miss in the center of the lawn. Temperature away from the fire? Around 40F/5C.

At least there was a lot of warm food and chairs by the fire?

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Alluka was wearing the new dress and boots Papa Hannibal had given her today, and she'd topped them with a cape and pigtails.

So of course she had to go and find Papa Hannibal.

"Hi, Papa Hannibal!" she said, beaming up at him once she'd tracked him down.

"Alluka!" Hannibal beamed back and held out his arms. "You look lovely today, my dear. How are you both?"

"We're good!" she said brightly, hugging him. "Nanika played with the toys this morning, but then there was this and..."

Well. Nanika was probably not the best at groups.

And her playing had mostly been sitting around with him. But still, the important part was that Nanika had enjoyed it.

"So I got to come instead."

Almost everyone was unknowingly grateful. Really.

Hannibal would have enjoyed watching people interact with Nanika, but yes, it was probably for the best.

"Well, welcome to both of you." He smiled. "In the hope of you coming, I've brought something." He set his thermal bag down and pulled out a carafe of thick hot chocolate and a small bag of homemade pink raspberry marshmallows. "I thought you might enjoy this."
