Ahsoka hadn't needed the radio to know something was up. The Force hung heavy and foreboding, and itched in her teeth and montrals, again. She was just glad that she wasn't having those kind of dreams this time. Yet.

She distracted herself by reordering the books, and refilling the caf.

Jenkins was not about to turn down an opportunity to explore the especially magic section of this particular library. Professional curiosity, if nothing else.

He had actually been quite adept at celestial navigation in his day, though he was terribly out of practice. He mostly used the stars these days for astrological purposes, rather than astronomical. Still, he felt perfectly capable of finding his way around.

Ah, Virgo! He'd always felt a particular affinity for that one in his youth. Perhaps he'd explore that way. . . .

Yip. Yip.

A strange noise permeated the area of Special Collections Jenkins had wandered into. A yipping, like some small mammal demanding attention.

Multiple small mammals.

But there was nothing in sight just yet.

"Hm," Jenkins mused. "Not necessarily related to our present situation, but interesting nonetheless." He kept going towards the sound, peering around as best he could in the dark.

The light became brighter and brighter as Jenkins went on, until the stars were no longer visible.

Far in the distance were strange, heavy, rabbit-like creatures with large fangs and teeth. And on their backs were men: large, heavy-set men, in metal armor, their heads held high.

Jenkins straightened his shoulders. That looked like the sort of nonsense he'd not had to deal with personally in several centuries. He double checked that his sword was still secure in his jacket, then started approaching again.

"Hail!" he called, raising one hand. "And well met, I should hope."

The large, furry animals came to a sudden stop. They seemed almost majestic, in the way large furry animals could be majestic.

The man at the front raised his helmet-mask and frowned at Jenkins. "Uh, hail... that. Yeah. What are you doing here?"

"Oh good," Jenkins said, shoulders relaxing. "My courtly manners have rather atrophied." He looked around. "I suppose that would rather depend on where you'd say 'here' is."

"Dark Ages?" the man at the front tried.

"No! 12th century!" one of the men behind him yelled.

"No, clearly this is all a simulation of some sort," a third sighed.

"Nerd!" someone in the back proclaimed.

"Interesting," Jenkins said. "Not even remotely illuminating, but interesting. Perhaps it would enlighten you gentlemen to know that, from my perspective, we are within what appears to be a pocket dimension housed in a library."

"I don't know what the man is talking about," muttered the second knight. "Is this another fidgy medieval Merlin thing?"

"We're not in a library," said the king at the front. "We are looking for a book, however. A grail book."

Jenkins was already halfway through raising a hand to comment on the "Merlin" thing when he heard that quantifier.

"I'm sorry, do you mean a book about the Holy Grail?"

"Yes," said the king. "It is very important to us."

"That's what Merlin says, anyway," another man interjected. "Merlin says a lot of shi-- uh, things are important."

Jenkins smirked at that. "Never have I heard a more accurate summation of Merlin's character." He shook his head. "And, ah, where have you gone about looking for this Grail tome so far?"

"From the Glade of Dewey to the Peaks of Congress have we ridden," the king said. A beat. "They should really just start calling it Mount Congress."

His second nodded. "We've been around these people for too long."

"I'm a little confused," Jenkins said. "You're clearly not actually from the Dark Ages or the twelfth century or wherever it is you believe you are. How on earth did you wind up . . ." He gestured generally to the whole set up, horses and armor and king and all.

Long pause.

"We're football players," the king said.

"The New York Knights," said his second.

"Merlin brought us here," said a third. After another pause: "He said it was important."

"Ahhh." Jenkins raised a hand, slowly clenching it into a fist as he considered that. "Yes. That does rather sound like him. Did he say why?"

"Because Queen Morgana trapped the real King Arthur and his knights in the Cave of Glass," the third helpfully supplied. "And we can't get to them without the Grail book. We think."

"Seems a round-about way to go about it," Jenkins said. "Though Merlin always was rather a drama queen."

On the other hand, Merlin had never tried to steal Excalibur, Arthur's crown, and Santa's sleigh, and then destroy time itself to try and bring back the Age of Camelot, like some Round Table Knights Jenkins could name.

"Well. A library is generally considered a good place to locate a book. Perhaps I can assist."

The knights turned to each other and muttered in conclave for several minutes.

Then the king righted himself. "How much do you know about, uh, alternative filing systems?"

"I suppose that would depend on how 'alternative' it might be. I gather whatever you're working with rather predates Dewey's decimals."

"We tried Dewey," one knight posited slowly. "We did."

"We think it may be V-Lib," said another.

"Tried it where, precisely?"

"In the valley," the king said, jerking his thumb behind him. "The Dewey valley."

". . . Ah. I can see where you thought DDC was the thing to try."
