Library, Wednesday
Peridot had been planning on bringing her notes in from Jenkins' class today in order to go through the library to research some of the terminology he'd used during whatever spare time she had.
As the day progressed, it became fairly clear that Peridot wasn't going to have spare time. A few of the books had taken to running down the aisles, and then a few more, and before Peridot could rein in the first few runners it had spiralled out of control into a whole book stampede.
She might have gotten trampled.
It wasn't pretty.
[OOC: Open! Mind the books!]

Today, that was changing. She'd stuck her head into a few rooms already, and--
"Peridot? Is that you?"
no subject
"It's me," Peridot confirmed, waving that hand a bit before she attempted to extricate herself from under the heap. "Hard at work, clearly."
Clearly, Aloy.

"Yes," she settled on. "Yes I did."
She probably could have sold that better without the shifty little look around to see if anyone was going to call her bluff.

"They are," Peridot replied, giving her shoulder a shrug as she picked her way to freedom. "But Peridots are made of pretty stern stuff."
Unless there was a Garnet trying to crush her with her bare hands, anyway. But that was a different matter entirely.

She had to check. The answer was a pretty straightforward, 'no, not really,' if she was right.

That was a thing that got damaged, right?

She picked up one more book, shaking it, tilting her head. "... So what is this, anyway?"

"Hey, yo, Peridot," she called as she wandered in, keeping an eye on her feet for any rushing books, "where you at?"
no subject
"Hiding!" A rare embarrassing confession from Peridot! "They keep trampling me!"
Someone had found her way to the top of one of the shelving units, somehow, and was looking down from up high as the books stampeded around below.
no subject
She didn't know if shouting would do anything, but she'd try. "Hey! Books! Move it!" She charged forward, waving her arm maybe kick a fee if thry didn't go stampede somewhere else....hoping they didn't try to stampede her, too, but she thought she'd fair at least slightly better than Peridot thanks to mere stature.

And then they all folded their covers and fell over, playing 'normal book' once more.
Peridot's peering continued.
"... I need to start kicking."
It continued to be the best advice she'd ever been given.
no subject
The unfortunate book to feel her wrath was, of course, Das Boot, which just sort of...sailed across the floor.
Summer gave it a firm nod of satisfaction, then turned her eyes upwards. "Kicking is always a good option," she said. "Good for nosy little brothers, good for books, good for a lot of things."
But she frowned seeing Peridot up there on the shelf like that. "You okay?"
no subject
This was patently untrue. But Peridot was starting to make her way back down from the shelving, anyway. Which would have been much easier if she still had her limb enhancers, but she'd make do with... hanging on to the top shelf and dangling, mostly.
"I had the situation entirely under - nngh - control."
Oh hey, look who was slipping!
no subject
Meanwhile, Summer was just standing there with her arms raised to perfect Gem-catching height just because it was really fun.
no subject
"Because," Peridot said, little legs scrambling to try to find purchase, "what kind of library aide would I - hnng! - be if I couldn't keep some books under contro-o-ool!"
Hey! Look who was falling now!
no subject
"Oh, man, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to get in your way there!"
And when she knelt down to set Peridot back to her feet, she may have taken the opportunity to sneak in a hug.
"Man, I have definitely missed you."
no subject
"Uh." Peridot was blinking at what she was fairly certain was a hug, yes, squinting a little while she processed what was happening, here. "You did?"
Even if she had figured out that Summer wasn't actually summer (and she hadn't), she'd never really get used to that one.
no subject
"So," she said, straightening back up, "my robot self didn't act, like, super weird around your or anything, did she?"
BDG and Shiemi had spoiled her; surely, they weren't the only ones to figure it out, so Peridot must have to, right??
no subject
And then made a little 'O' shape with her mouth.
"THAT'S why you didn't have your phone upgrades!" She paused, and then added a little more sedately. "And kept stressing how much you liked me over the radio."
Ow.
