Political Campaigning [Tuesday, March 21, 4th period]

Josh was sitting behind his desk for all the world like he hadn't been gone for almost a month.

He gave the Campaigning class a welcoming grin when they arrived.

"Hey all," he said, checking his syllabus. "I think we're supposed to be talking about political consultants and other people you hire. It's pretty easy. Hire Bruno Gianelli. It'll cost your soul, but he's a steal at that kind of price."

He kicked his feet onto his desk. "What'd I miss?" He looked around the room. "And, um, Rory--how many days until the election?"

Parker's been wondering about something, and she waits to grab Angel on his way out. In the meantime, she smiles at Professor Lyman. "Angel tried to drag himself from his sick bed to teach us. But Janet stopped him."

"Sick bed?" Josh repeated. "What happened?"

"You didn't hear about this?" Parker blinked, then shook her head. "Right, you just got back. Angel's ex-girlfriend poisoned him. He was incredibly ill for about a week, and he's still recovering."

Josh glanced over at where Angel had been sitting. "Wow. He sure knows how to pick them, huh?"

He lowered his voice. "Is it okay for him to be in classes yet?"

"I think so, but I know he's supposed to be taking it easy. Janet's been watching him like a hawk, and he still keeps getting overtired and crashing." Parker glared in Angel's direction and folded her arms. "He was out all last week from all his classes, and he's much better than he was. But he's really not up to a full TA thing yet."

Parker smirked, satisfied to have gotten that settled, and also: "He threatened to give me detention. Callisto told him not to, though."

"For mocking the whole pyramid scheme vampire guy, or for something else?"

"There may have been pre-mocking. Anticipation of an event to be mocked. Questioning of his ability to line up a speaker without it being lame. He was testy about it, and felt retaliatory."

Josh nodded. "And went for the big guns. I like that in a TA." He quirked up an eyebrow. "Even if you were right."

"So right." She grinned. "Oh, did you know the original Donna went to Mexico with CJ and some people named Amy and Abby?"

Josh blinked. "She did? With Amy? And Mrs. Bartlet?"

He was doing a pretty decent impression of a fish gasping for water. "What a fantastic idea," he muttered to himself.

"Mrs. Bartlet-- why do I know that name?" Parker frowned, then said, "Yeah, C.J. brought me back a souvenir, and she mentioned that she had fun with them there. Lots of margaritas."

"She's the First Lady," Josh said, still breathing funny. "At least where I come from."
