Library, 3/21

Angela gets to the library early (for her) and (mostly) refreshed.

Of course, the enormous coffee she's carrying might help explain why she seems refreshed.

She's brought in some donuts from Jeff, God of Biscuits to share with the other aides, and maybe any friends who might stop by. She hopes she'll get to talk to the new librarian some more as well.

The library is open for all your bookish needs.

Parker wanders in during second period, and waves at Angela as she comes in. "Hey. How goes it? Hey, Anakin's back!"

She still has no idea that she has cat hairs on the backs of her slacks.

"That makes my day even better," Angela chirped. "I am in a truly good mood."

[OOC: And then she suffers amnesia, because Rory tells her the same thing during sixth period ;-).]

[ooc:*facepalm and laugh, cool, moving on...]

"I'm glad to hear it. What's got you so cheerful?" Parker yawned, and rubbed at her un-made-up face. "I could really use some coffee. And those donuts. No breakfast."

Angela thought about it for a moment. "I don't know. I'm just ... in a good mood." She laughed. "Probably something will happen to wreck it in a couple hours, but it hasn't come up yet."

She gestured to the thermos and the donut box. "Help yourself. Did you oversleep or something?"

"The alarm didn't go off. I was late for first period and couldn't stop for anything." Parker poured herself a cup of coffee, and then grabbed one of the cinnomon donuts with relief. "Thank God I told Jaye to pick up the costume for Cam today." She took a sip of her coffee, then looked thoughtful. "Hey. Do you remember our conversation about changing the future?"

"Cam is in a costume?" Angela laughed. "I have to see that. What is it?"

It took her a second, but she figured out what Parker meant about the future, and a shadow crossed her eyes when she did. "Yeah. How there's probably some stuff people cannot change?"

"Superhero! And tasteful. No cape. He said he'd wear it if it wasn't tacky, and I figure Jaye has the best chance of talking him into it no matter what it looks like on him."

"Yeah. That."

Parker swallowed hard, studying her coffee and not meeting Angela's eyes. "What if... what if it was just one person? Do you think it would be wrong to change the future, for just one person? If you knew you could make it-- better, or give them a chance...."

Angela swallowed. "I don't think it would be wrong to try," she said. "If when I got home, I could do something to the Marty that exists in 1996? A good foster family, counseling, whatever it would take to keep him from -- you know? I would do it, abolutely."

Parker folded her arms across her stomach, expression miserable. "I promised not to. I don't think she'll know if I break my word, I don't think anything will happen, but what if I'm wrong? I just... I've been trying not to think about this since Saturday, and I don't know what to do."

Angela squinted. "Give me specifics?" she asked. "Because I'm kind of lost in the hypothetical, here."

Parker rubbed her temples, then quietly said, "I found out something about Professor Dream's future while Titania was driving my body. She was from a few years ahead in his timeline, I think. I promised I wouldn't tell if she wouldn't try to take any of us with her when she went back to Faerie. I don't even know if she could have, maybe she was bluffing."

"Oh," Angela said. She bit her lower lip. "I don't know him well enough to say whether he would want to know or not. He gives me the creeps."

"But if the fairy made you promise? I don't know, I would be kind of afraid to break that promise, to be honest."

"Yeah. That's about where I'm at." Parker hugged herself again. "I just-- it's important. Maybe I don't have to tell him what's going to happen. Maybe I can just tell him what not to do? She didn't make me promise anything about that."

"Maybe?" Angela said. "But what would you do if he asked you questions, and answering them would break the promise?"

Parker's shoulders slumped. "I don't even know if it would make a difference," she said, mostly to herself. "Or if I want to break the promise to get back at her, or because maybe it's the right thing to do." She looked tired. "Right. Must think about this some more." She found a smile, and took a bite of her donut. "It's not urgent. There's still some time. He's here 'til May, it won't happen before then."

Angela nodded. "Think about it. I mean, who knows, you might help him?"

Then she noticed the cat hair on Parker's slacks. "Hang on," she said, and went to get a paper towel. "Did you visit Rory or Angel or something? Because there's hair all over you."

"What?" Parker looked down, then stood up, cursing. "Oh, god. M. That's been there all this time? Oh, fabulous."

"It's only second period?" Angela said hopefully. "I'm sure nobody noticed. Who's Em?"

"Jarod's kitten. I must have sat on something at his place, or she brushed against me last night--" Parker facepalmed.

Angela's eyes went very, very wide.

"You were at Jarod's?" she squeaked.

"Sshhhh! Do you mind?" Parker gave up and sat down, glaring at the cuffs of her slacks. "I fell asleep, it's no big deal."

Her voice is calm, her expression is fine, and she's slowly turning fuschia.

And, because she really, really likes Parker but is still a tiny bit afriad of her?

Angela doesn't say anything, at first. She just squeaks and bounces again.

Then she attempts to compose herself. "Oh."

But she's still grinning.

Parker is looking everywhere but at Angela, and just kind of muttering. "Damnit. Go to all the trouble of fixing the hair, getting a new shirt, rushing to class, and Agent M thwarts me. Definitely Jarod's cat." She rolled her eyes.

Yeah, that's magenta.

"Soerry?" Angela said. "So nothing ... happened, with you guys."

"What? NO!" Parker puts her hands over her face. "I would have planned it much, much better than this! For a weekend! With a satin nightgown and a change of clothes and... Maybe I've given this too much thought."
