Library, 3/21

Angela gets to the library early (for her) and (mostly) refreshed.

Of course, the enormous coffee she's carrying might help explain why she seems refreshed.

She's brought in some donuts from Jeff, God of Biscuits to share with the other aides, and maybe any friends who might stop by. She hopes she'll get to talk to the new librarian some more as well.

The library is open for all your bookish needs.

"Crichton is a cowboy and you're a superhero," Angela repeated, rolling her eyes a little. "Did I miss the memo when they moved Halloween?"

"But it's not bad, for a superhero outfit. No dumb cape, anyhow. Did Parker give you powers, too?"

"I don't know what's up with Crichton, he says it's not a bet but he's just being really weird." Cameron shook his head. "And no, no powers. I think I'm fine with that, though. I've got no need for detachable limbs. Flying might be cool."

"I think I would take invisibility," Angela said thoughtfully. "Though superstrength would be pretty cool. Throw bad guys around, all of that."

"Yeah, I can think of a few times where that would have come in handy at this school. You're a bit at a disadvantage being human around here," he said.

"Seriously," Angela said. "Especially if you're human and don't know how to use guns and stuff."

She shuddered. "It's so weird that I want combat training to make it through high school."

"It's definitely not your standard high school," Cameron agreed. "I can get that. Have you considered joining gun club or self-defence?"

"Gun club is kind of Marty's thing. He took me to the range way back in September, but...." Angela's next words were mumbled out of extreme embarassment. "Isortofshothim."

"So I haven't really wanted to try it, since. I want to go to the self-defense club, but I keep forgetting when it meets. Are you in that?"

"You shot him?" He really shouldn't find this funny, but Marty seemed to be alright.

"No, I've got enough clubs I'm in that I keep not going to. I'm in self-defense class, but most of the stuff I know, I've actually picked up from Aeryn."

"It was just a graze!" Angela said, defensive. Then she started giggling herself. "At least it's a good story, right?"

"How's Aeryn as a teacher? I don't really know her that well."

Cameron laughed. "It's a great story and it makes for a good threat too."

He tilted his head, looking a bit weary about the subject. "Aeryn's great. She's taught me a lot, I don't know if she's up to teaching lately, though. You'd have to ask her."

"I'll do that," Angela nodded. It seemed like a change of subject was in order, so: "Were you looking for a book or anything? Because I can help with that."

"What?" He belatedly remembered he was in the library. "Actually, I kinda just dropped by to bug people."

"I excel at being bugged," Angela said approvingly. "So. How's life? How's Jaye?"

"Good to know," he smiled and tried not to think that apparently asking how he was doing was quickly followed by a Jaye question. "It's good and Jaye seemed to be happy with the costume this morning," he shrugged. "How are you?"

Angela smiled. "I am randomly in a good mood," she said. "Go figure, right? Nothing exciting has happened lately. Which might be why I'm in a good mood."

"Good moods are good," he nodded. "The island's been quiet lately, which is nice but kinda boring. I wonder what invasion we're going to get next."

Angela crossed her two forefingers as if warding off an evil spirit. "Don't even say that," she said. "I vote for boring, boring life until graduation."

"Awwww, come on. A little invasion here and there is fun," Cameron bounced.

Angela considered this. "Only if it's more snow monsters. I killed those with ramen."

"Alright, but I don't want it to be that cold again. I thought I'd never get warm again."

"Still hasn't," Angela pointed out. And, indeed, it was 30 degrees outside, and she shivered inside her sweater.

"I need to go to the beach or something. Someplace warm."

"I don't think the beach is warm right now, I'm really missing my morning runs but the gym is so much warmer." He frowned. "Huh. You know, this suit is nice and warm."

Angela leaned across the counter to touch the sleeve. "What is that, rubber?"

"No, don't think so. I'm not sure actually," he poked at it.
