Anakin's workshop met outside the Travelocity office, and he greeted them in his traditional Jedi robes. "Welcome to my class," he said. He pointed to a map of the world that the Travelocity gnomes had given him. "For those of you new to this planet, we are currently here--" he poked the map, "--in Maryland, in the continent of North America. Our travels today will take us to South America, down here--" another poke of the map. "To a nation called Peru. They speak a different language there called Spanish. If you happen to speak it, that will make your lives a little easier. If you don't, well, I hope you're fluent in hand gestures."

That aren't considered rude in Peru. "You will have to complete two tasks while in Peru, and then find me at the final stop. Don't get hurt, don't get arrested, don't get lost. Ready...go."

"Welcome to Peru," Anakin said with a smile. "How did you like it?"

"Less deadly than the class name would have me believe," Jyn said, staring up at Anakin -- as if that was his real name.

"Well, I start off easy to see how everyone reacts," Anakin said. "We'll get to live animal hunting later on. You're seventh today."

Jyn wasn't horribly competitive, but that did rankle her a little to finish that low. She'd do better next time.

"Why are you dressed like a Jedi?" she had to ask. Her mother had told her all sorts of stories about Jedi when she'd been a little girl.

"Because I'm a Jedi," Anakin said. "You know what Jedi are?"

"My mother told me stories about them," Jyn said. "She also said they're all dead."

Anakin looked sympathetic. "Depends on when you're from, I'm afraid."

Hannibal had mentioned different times to her, but she hadn't processed that enough to expect different times from her own world. And yet.

"Where I'm from, you're all dead," she said. "Even you. My mother thought the Jedi will return. You're taking too much time, though."

"I'm afraid I'm from the time of the purges," Anakin said. "I can't go back to help. I'm very sorry."

"I wasn't asking you to," Jyn said. "I've learned to rely on myself instead of the Force."

And yet she still wore the kyber crystal around her neck.

"I did too, long before I knew about the Force," Anakin said, nodding.

"My mother said to trust in the Force, but that didn't get her or me anywhere," Jyn said, more than a touch bitter.

She was a long way from "Hope is what rebellions are built on."

"Yet," Anakin said with a little smile that made people want to smack the Jedi. "It works in its own time."

"I'll trust my blaster and my knife before I trust the Force," Jyn scoffed.

"Well, if you're not Force-trained, it's probably a smart move," Anakin said.
