For the first day of class, there was a nice selection of protein shakes or coffee for the students to grab before things started. Because they were starting on a high note. It was all down hill from here on out, kids.

"Hello, and welcome to Advanced Takeout," Tony said. "I'm Mr. Stark or Tony if you'd rather."

"And I'm Steve Rogers," Steve added. "Um, calling me Steve would be kind of strange. Welcome to Advanced Takeout. We know there are a couple other food-related classes this summer--this one is for people who can't cook."

Like them.

They only blew up one kitchen! On island. So far.

"Captain Rogers," Tony suggested to the class because Steve lacked the casual sweaters for 'Mr. Rogers' after all. "It's the first class, so things will be easy with letting us know your name and why you picked this class. You're in for a lot of this for the rest of the week. Sorry."

Steve grinned. "You can also tell us your biggest kitchen disaster. We blew up a microwave making apple pie a few months back."

Don't ask how. Just...don't.

"And I even have a doctorate in chemistry, so it can happen to anyone," Tony added cheerfully. Because it had been for science. Didn't you all feel better about yourselves?

"And after you're done with the introductions, you can try to make coffee or a protein shake," Steve said. Which, well, Tony's robot DUM-E had a hard time doing, so it can't be that easy, right?

Man, this girl (she thought? Maybe? She really shouldn't assume with aliens) looked cool as hell. And Summer needed new friends, so she gave the other girl (maybe?) a smile, lifted the coffee maker and asked, "So, are we supposed to use this thing to make coffee or a magic potion or what?"

One could argue that coffee itself was a magic potion, but that was neither here nor there.

"It seems simple enough," Ahsoka said as she examined the caf-pot.

She didn't particularly trust simple in this place.

"Looks can be deceiving," Summer said, thinking herself oh-so-wise.

She gave it another look, too, and still came out confused. Did the water go inside and the coffee on top? The other way around? Did they both go in together? What about heating it up? Was there a kettle or something?

"I'm Summer, by the way," she offered, "and I am not ashamed to admit that I don't know how to make coffee unless it involves pushing a button."

Miss "I already know how to cook" over here.

"Ahsoka," she said, turning the pot over in her hands. "It looks like part of a still."

Let's not go into how Ahsoka knew about those.

"A still?" Oh, Summer, sweet suburban child, still had to ask. "A still what?"

"You know, a still," Ahsoka said. "Like a vaporator for alcohol."

Summer winced, biting her lip apologetically. "Vaporator?" she asked, with a nice upward lilt to it that hopefully showed that she at least felt bad for not knowing that one either.

She could guess, sure, but she's probably sound more like an idiot if she tried than if she straight up played too dumb.

"Moisture vaporators?" Ahsoka tried, sketching out the vague shape with her hands.

"Oh, okay, so it's not, like, a gun that, when you shoot it, it just vaporizes the target."

Because, of course, what a natural place for a seventeen year old girl's brain to go, right? This made a bit more sense, really, in context.

"What you're talking about, then, it just takes water vapor from the air and condenses it into moisture, right? You can do that with alcohol?"

No, those were distruptors. Though Ahsoka at least had enough discretion not to say that out loud.

"Well, it's not exactly the same." There wasn't any random alcohol in the air, after all. "But Kix's still used some vaporator parts."

But there was probably a planet out there that did have random alcohol in the air, so Summer wasn't about to discount anything. She was hoping it would be that easy, but no such luck, apparently.

She was tapping her chin thoughtfully. "I should learn more about these stills," she decided, picturing herself with a never-ending supply of booze to bribe radio squirrels with. "Who's Kix? Is that someone here?"

"He was my friend," Ahsoka said, fiddling with the pot. "He died."

Well, technically, Jesse'd said he was MIA, but the clankers weren't big on taking prisoners.

Oof, good one, Summer, way to bring up dead friends!

"Ohmygosh, I'm so sorry."
