BWI Airport Portalocity Lounge, Saturday Morning

All of Jughead's possessions fit inside a single backpack.

He didn't mind it. At least it was crammed as full as it could be crammed, that was good enough for him. And if he could keep people from figuring out that was the case, even better. This was supposed to be a break from –– everything. Riverdale and all associated drama.

Still, when he arrived in the lounge and checked his phone, he found himself wondering whether Archie even remembered he was moving today.

Whatever.

He dropped his backpack on the floor and leaned against the wall. Good. This seemed like a decent spot to stand in while eyeing everyone else warily.

Kanan blinked. And then he shrugged, grinned, and reached forward to give the guy that high-five.

"I'm guessing that's a no, then," he replied. "Here's one, then. Ever heard of an airport?"

It was like a cute baby spaceport. Aw, Earth.

"Definitely a no," Magnus agreed, turning slightly more serious again. "And, I mean, yeah. Fantasy airports. Or flying glass spheres."

God help anyone listening to him.

Like Kanan? Kanan was going to need all the help he could get?

"... Flying glass spheres?"

So, what, TIE fighters?

"They're sort of top secret stuff, so forget you heard that," Magnus replied, making a bit of a face as he thought about the Bureau and then a sort of stricken one at what had been happening there. "Is there a wizard in this Fandom who might be able to help me?"

"I mean, there are people who can do magic," Kanan noted, looking thoughtful. "What do you need help with, exactly?"

Yeah, that stricken face wasn't lost on him.

"Getting back to my friends." Oh god, he was so earnest and full of conviction about it, it would make you puke.

Well, that was kind of adorable. If generally unhelpful. Kanan raised an eyebrow at the guy, and then waved for him to get onto the bus.

"And where are your friends?"

"This is going to sound crazy," Magnus warned. "But they're inside the moon."

The answer to that was probably not going to be the answer that Magnus was expecting, huh?

"What, this moon?" Kanan pointed upwards. "Or some other planet's moon? How far out do you need to get?"

"The moon on the prime material plane over Faerun?" Magnus ventured. "There are two of them and this one is the fake one."

"The... fake one," Kanan said, after a long pause. And then added, "Which planet is Faerun, again?"

He was pretty sure that one wasn't on his syllabus this semester.

"It's a planet... that is... a planet." Look, he wasn't great at this part of things.

"Well," Kanan said, raising an eyebrow, "that sure narrows that down."

He offered the poor guy a handshake. Since he seemed so lost, and all.

"Name's Kanan, by the way. Kanan Jarrus. If you can figure out which moon we're looking for, I've got a ship that can probably get you there."

"Magnus Burnsides. Magnus 'The Hammer' Burnsides." God damn this canon. "Known in some circles as... Morko."

And there was what almost sounded like a melodic strumming of guitar strings that might have followed that name. But it could just be your imagination, Kanan.

"... Morko? Where'd that come from?"

Look, it was either he ask about that, or he try to figure out what that strumming was all about.

It wasn't like he didn't understand using an alias, but wow.

"It's Elvish for... 'Bear'." Because Magnus was sort of bear-like.

And there was that weird strumming again.

"Ah," Kanan replied, nodding a little. "Okay, that... makes sense."

Probably?

"So, why the bear? You some kind of fighter?"

The sword was probably a good clue, yeah.

"I am," Magnus said, perking up. He also had an ax and a shield on him. And a goldfish in a glass ball on his belt.

Because of course he did.

"With a little extra in there."

He was a ruff boi.

"Extra, huh? Dare I ask?"

Okay, no, he had to ask. So sue him, Kanan was curious.

"I did a little training with a Rogue. No big." Huge big. He got to pick locks now. It was sweet as hell.

"Sounds useful, though," Kanan pointed out. "I mean, hell, I did some training with a smuggler, way back when. Taught me some of the most important things I know."

Magnus looked like he really wanted to ask for some of that sweet, sweet smuggler knowledge and was having to restrain himself. "Maybe after I get thins settled back home I could learn about that."

"Couldn't hurt," Kanan laughed. "Never know when you'll have to cart three nexu cubs from one galaxy to the next to appease a crazy old witch, anyway."

Yzma was terrifying.

"...what's a nexu cub?" And could he have one?

Force save him, Kanan had just explained this to one person already this week, and it had led to a jaunt to the Outer Rim to call in a few favors with some smugglers he knew.

"Okay, take a cat," he said, "make it about five meters long and give it a mouth like a bear trap, four eyes, and a two-pronged tail like a whip."
