All of Jughead's possessions fit inside a single backpack.

He didn't mind it. At least it was crammed as full as it could be crammed, that was good enough for him. And if he could keep people from figuring out that was the case, even better. This was supposed to be a break from –– everything. Riverdale and all associated drama.

Still, when he arrived in the lounge and checked his phone, he found himself wondering whether Archie even remembered he was moving today.

Whatever.

He dropped his backpack on the floor and leaned against the wall. Good. This seemed like a decent spot to stand in while eyeing everyone else warily.

"Couldn't hurt," Kanan laughed. "Never know when you'll have to cart three nexu cubs from one galaxy to the next to appease a crazy old witch, anyway."

Force save him, Kanan had just explained this to one person already this week, and it had led to a jaunt to the Outer Rim to call in a few favors with some smugglers he knew.

"Okay, take a cat," he said, "make it about five meters long and give it a mouth like a bear trap, four eyes, and a two-pronged tail like a whip."

'Cute' was not exactly the first thing that came to mind when Kanan thought of nexu.

... But he had to admit, the cubs kind of had been.

"Yeah, they have their moments," he settled on. "You a big cat person, then?"

"I'm a big animal person," Magnus replied, proudly removing Stevphen from his belt to show off the goldfish in the glass bauble. "I'm not allowed to have a dog on the moon because apparently they run off it--oh my god, that's been another lie."

He wanted to think it was a lie, at least.

"Oh yeah?" Kanan was leaning forward to check out the goldfish. Because, at the end of the day, yeah, he was a big animal person, too. He was just bad at admitting it. "Why would they lie to you about the dog?"

"Because I'm too busy to take care of a dog," Magnus said like a sullen child who knew damn well why.

Okay, that was because the dog wouldn't go away, and by the time they'd left that weird rainbow world, Kanan had grown attached to him.

Now, when he said that last part it was almost like... static. Like words were indeed happening, but actually hearing them was not in the cards.

Kanan's mouth kind of fell open, for what it was worth.

"I hear the sound I'm pretty sure a Wookiee would make if it was gargling sand," he decided. "What the hell was that?"

"I'm part of... I was part of," he started again because Pan only knew how that would turn out once he got back there. "An organization. That... edits information available to people?"

"Unless you're a cyborg," he added, squinting a little at Magnus thoughtfully. "Could be a cyborg sound."
