MSND Production, Saturday, 7 p.m. FHT

After weeks of excruciating rehearsals, the school's production of, A Midsummer Night's Dream is finally being staged in the school auditorium.

Come. Buy popcorn. Mock.

The Tick and Lockheed took their seats. Tick was excited to see the production Rory was running. Lockheed was excited to mock the production Rory was running.

Because Lockheed's kind of a jerk.

"Professor Tick!" Lorelai greeted as she and Luke slid into seats near him.

"How've you been?" she asked. She smacked Luke when she heard him mumbling under his breath.

"Hello, Lorelai! Hello, Luke! I've been just fine!" Tick said. "You've met Lockheed, right"

"Yeah, you brought him to the diner," Luke said, eyeing the dragon warily.

Lorelai smacked Luke again. "I'm so proud of Rory," Lorelai said.

"You've raised a wonderful girl, Lorelai. The fact that she's able to do all the things she does and still direct a play is quite impressive," Tick said.

"Thanks," Lorelai grinned. "I'm pretty happy with how she turned out. I just hope I'm as lucky with this one," she added, patting her stomach.

"With parents like you two, I'm sure this child will turn out just fine! Ooh! And if you ever need a babysitter, I'm always ready to help!" Tick offered. "Kids love me!"

"Aw, that's so sweet of you to offer," Lorelai said. "I will definitely keep it mind.

Her hand may have tightened on Luke's leg to keep him from saying something rude.

"If you need references, you can ask your daughter," Tick said, proudly. "Not about kids loving me. She hasn't seen me around any kids. But she's an excellent judge of character! Most of the time."

"Anyway, I'm sure the show will be great!"

"I'm very much looking forward to it," Lorelai said. "After all, the Christmas pageant was incredible."

Susan waved to Lorelai as she took a seat beyond Professor Tick. "Hello, Lorelai. I hope you're feeling well?"

"Yes, Susan, it's good to see you," Lorelai said with a grin. "Have you met my husband, Luke?"

"I don't believe so. Hello, I'm Susan Pevensie. I'm the counselor here. It's nice to meet you."

Luke gave her a skeptical look. "That must keep you busy."

Susan laughed. "Well, I don't have as much time on my hands as I might, of course. Congratulations on your child, by the way. Lorelai said it was your first?"

"Yeah," he replied, giving his wife a fond look. "Though I've known Lorelai and Rory since Rory was little."

"Then I wish you as much luck with this one. Rory seems like a very sweet girl, from what I've seen of her."

"Yeah, Rory's a good kid," Luke said, obviously proud of his step daughter.

Tick waved to Susan. "Hello there," he said. Lockheed waved, too.

Susan blinked at Lockheed, and waved back, a little dubious. "Hello? Um. You're one of the teachers here, aren't you? I believe I saw you chaperoning at the St. Valentine's Day dance. I'm Susan Pevensie, the school counselor."

"Ah, that's right! I thought you looked familiar!" Tick said. "I'm The Tick. I teach Criminal Justice. And this is Lockheed. He's a tiny dragon."

"I'd noticed that." Susan's lips don't even twitch, and she gives Lockheed a very polite nod. "A pleasure to meet you, Mr. Lockheed. And you as well, of course, Mr.... The Tick?"

"Just 'The Tick,' Dr. Pevensie. Or 'Tick.' Sometimes people don't use my article," The Tick said. "So, school counselor? You help people when they're feeling kind of insane?"

"Um..." How to answer that from a man dressed as a bug? Then again, he seemed more on-point than SuperArtie, so.... "Yes, or when they're merely confused, or sad. That's what I attempt to do. Sometimes people lose track of their thoughts, and I help them try to sort the tangle out."

"Ah, okay. I kind of like my thoughts tangled. It keeps them closer together so I can see them all at once," Tick said.
