Susan waved to Lorelai as she took a seat beyond Professor Tick. "Hello, Lorelai. I hope you're feeling well?"

"Yes, Susan, it's good to see you," Lorelai said with a grin. "Have you met my husband, Luke?"

"I don't believe so. Hello, I'm Susan Pevensie. I'm the counselor here. It's nice to meet you."

Luke gave her a skeptical look. "That must keep you busy."

Susan laughed. "Well, I don't have as much time on my hands as I might, of course. Congratulations on your child, by the way. Lorelai said it was your first?"

"Yeah," he replied, giving his wife a fond look. "Though I've known Lorelai and Rory since Rory was little."

Re: Before the show

[identity profile] susanofnarnia.livejournal.com 2006-03-19 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Then I wish you as much luck with this one. Rory seems like a very sweet girl, from what I've seen of her."

"Yeah, Rory's a good kid," Luke said, obviously proud of his step daughter.

"Is she in the play?" she asked them both. "I missed getting a program."

Tick waved to Susan. "Hello there," he said. Lockheed waved, too.

[identity profile] susanofnarnia.livejournal.com 2006-03-19 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Susan blinked at Lockheed, and waved back, a little dubious. "Hello? Um. You're one of the teachers here, aren't you? I believe I saw you chaperoning at the St. Valentine's Day dance. I'm Susan Pevensie, the school counselor."

Re: Before the show

[identity profile] bugofjustice.livejournal.com 2006-03-19 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, that's right! I thought you looked familiar!" Tick said. "I'm The Tick. I teach Criminal Justice. And this is Lockheed. He's a tiny dragon."

Re: Before the show

[identity profile] susanofnarnia.livejournal.com 2006-03-19 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
"I'd noticed that." Susan's lips don't even twitch, and she gives Lockheed a very polite nod. "A pleasure to meet you, Mr. Lockheed. And you as well, of course, Mr.... The Tick?"

Re: Before the show

[identity profile] bugofjustice.livejournal.com 2006-03-19 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Just 'The Tick,' Dr. Pevensie. Or 'Tick.' Sometimes people don't use my article," The Tick said. "So, school counselor? You help people when they're feeling kind of insane?"

"Um..." How to answer that from a man dressed as a bug? Then again, he seemed more on-point than SuperArtie, so.... "Yes, or when they're merely confused, or sad. That's what I attempt to do. Sometimes people lose track of their thoughts, and I help them try to sort the tangle out."

Re: Before the show

[identity profile] bugofjustice.livejournal.com 2006-03-19 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, okay. I kind of like my thoughts tangled. It keeps them closer together so I can see them all at once," Tick said.

Re: Before the show

[identity profile] susanofnarnia.livejournal.com 2006-03-19 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Susan blinked, then smiled. "And as long as you like what you see, why not?"

Re: Before the show

[identity profile] bugofjustice.livejournal.com 2006-03-19 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
"That's how I feel about it! It gives me a different perspective on things," Tick said. "Also, it means my brain is always an interesting place to be!"

Re: Before the show

[identity profile] susanofnarnia.livejournal.com 2006-03-19 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Susan's smile widened in delight. "I don't know enough people who can say that. And you teach Criminal Justice? Are you a, ahem, forgive me for making assumptions, superhero?"

Re: Before the show

[identity profile] bugofjustice.livejournal.com 2006-03-19 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
"You are correct, Doctor!" Tick said. "Well, technically it's my second job now. Teacher-slash-superhero. The students come first, then saving the day. Or sometimes both at the same time, in case of alien goldfish."

Re: Before the show

[identity profile] susanofnarnia.livejournal.com 2006-03-19 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Alien goldfish." Susan paused, then had to ask, as she took a sip of her space coffee. "How can you tell they are alien goldfish?"

Re: Before the show

[identity profile] bugofjustice.livejournal.com 2006-03-19 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
"They told me so. They're in the dorm lobby right now, although they've stopped speaking to me. I don't think they liked being thwarted," Tick pondered.

Re: Before the show

[identity profile] susanofnarnia.livejournal.com 2006-03-19 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
"And who does?" She would like to believe that he's mad, but if he is, it's very calmly and cheerfully so. And he is a fellow faculty member. So.... "Did they say what they wanted, before their capture?"

Re: Before the show

[identity profile] bugofjustice.livejournal.com 2006-03-19 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
"They wanted me dead," Tick explained with more enthusiasm than would normally be considered sane. "You see, my sidekick had given me a goldfish for Christmas, but she was in fact a scout for the aliens. Anyway, she died of a rare disease and the goldfish armada decided to take wee fishie revenge on my by threatening Rory. Their ships were poorly designed so it was easy to thwart their plans."

Re: Before the show

[identity profile] susanofnarnia.livejournal.com 2006-03-19 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm very-- glad? To hear that?" Susan clutched her popcorn a little more closely. "Wee fishie revenge?"
