Ahsoka thought she was getting used to the library throwing its low key weirdness at her, but then she'd come in today only to find a large animal that looked kind of like a less furry nerf that'd lost half its horns in the middle of the library.

Licking the books.

Great, she hadn't even had caf yet, and now she was craving nerf-burgers as well.

"It was here when I came in," Ahsoka said, shrugging. "Maybe it climbed in the windows."

The much smaller than a cow windows.

Yeeeeah. Rhys looked at the windows and then at the cow. And then back at the windows again for good measure.

"Right," he said slowly. "Maybe it's a prank?"

"Or a student?"

Was Kuzco still a llama?

He was. Oh god, was he going to start licking Rhys' stuff next?

"Did you try talking to it? Her? Him? It," he finally settled on with a confused look.

How did Rhys know he hadn't already been licking them?

Ahsoka tilted her head to look between the creatures legs. "I think it's a girl." At least she thought those were teats rather than...prongs. "And I tried, no response."

Why? Why was fate so cruel to him?

"Huh." Did she expect helpful advice here? Because he was the wrong person to ask for it. "Maybe if we push it out the door, someone else will deal with it?"

Rhys was probably just collateral damage from it being cruel to Kuzco.

"That could work." Not that Ahsoka usually eschewed responsibilities but... not-a-nerf.

It was perfectly safe to say neither of them were cut out to be nerfherders. Nor were they scruffy.

They were fabulous.

Rhys looked way too cheerful and smug to have his plan not get shot down. "It should be the teachers' job to deal with if she's a student after all."

Ahsoka started pushing the cow to try and get it turned towards the door, it worked about as well as you'd expect. "Master Skywalker should know what to do," she said, then reconsidered that. "Or Master Kenobi, at least."

"Maybe we should get it to their offices then." Rhys, no.

He was very carefully trying to find a place to also push the cow that he wouldn't end up getting kicked or something. Because, without his immense strength, this wasn't going to happen.

Sure.

Let's go with that.

Yes. The immense strength of Rhys's noodle arms. That.

"Or even the hall." Ahsoka was setting her sights low.

Always best to aim low here, Ahsoka. Always your best option.

"That works," Rhys agreed, shoving with all his might. You'd think having a robotic arm would help. It did not.

Ahsoka's narrative was terribly surprised. Really.

"C'mon, nerfy," Ahsoka muttered, changing tactics and trying to lead the cow by the horns. "The hall's much nicer."

"Just--go," Rhys gritted out, slowly sinking to the ground as he lost traction and had absolutely no effect on the cow. Other than to maybe annoy it a little.

"Have you got any salt?" Ahsoka asked, still tugging on ~~Nerfy's~~ the cow's horns. "Large herbivores are supposed to like it."

Rhys popped back up over the cow's hindquarters. "Why would I be carrying salt with me?"

Salt was useful? Which probably explained why he wouldn't carry it, really.

"That's not a no."

Hey! Accurate, but hurtful.

"It's a no," he assured her, rolling his eyes.

"Try grabbing a book then," Ahsoka said. "Maybe we can lure it out with one."

"This is getting ridiculous," the adult, turned teenager with the robotic limbs muttered to the alien with magical powers. But he did grab a book to try holding out enticingly to the cow.

They were Force powers, completely different from magic.

The cow turned its head towards Rhys and his book and took a step towards him. "I think it's working."

The Force, magic... same thing. Just as long as she didn't start glowing and opening up vaults on him.

"...oh god," Rhys said, making a face as he stepped away to get it out of the room. "It better not bite me."

"Herbivore." Which meant she was more concerned about it squishing him.

"What if it confuses me for a plant then?" Rhys snapped.

He was very lanky, after all.

"You're too loud to be a plant," Ahsoka pointed out.

"You don't know that!" He really was. And he was being crowded on out of the library by a lumbering, bibliophile of a cow.

"You'll be fine," Ahsoka reassured him even as she kept herself ready to yank him out of the way with the Force if she needed to.

"It's so gross," Rhys whined as more book licking happened when he was too slow to step back.

He tossed the book further into the hallway, giving the cow an expectant look.

Ahsoka gave the cow a prod with the Force. "Go, Nerfy, be free."

Once the cow slowly ambled forward, Rhys not so slowly scrambled around yo get back in the library and away from it.

"This place is so weird."

"What was your first clue?"

No one liked a smart-arse, Ahsoka.

And yet that was basically the only sort of person who Rhys hung out with at any point in time.

"I'm just saying," he muttered, crossing his arms over his chest. "At least most of the wildlife here isn't murderous."

That was about all it had going for it.
