Library, Thursday (December 8)

The fog that seemed to envelop the entire island today was hardly enough, in and of itself, to cause Cosette much alarm. The strange creatures, on the other hand, and the sudden deterioration of many of the buildings in town?

Those things were more than enough to have her hurrying into the library early today in lieu of her morning walk, and making sure that the tables and chairs were arranged to accommodate a good-sized group of people. She was fairly certain she knew what to expect today, if past experience was any indication.

"THAT TOO."

Volume, Peridot.

She frowned, turning the clipboard over in her hands, and then wrinkled her nose and held it up to Obi-Wan. It was so out of place here in the library, where she had been led to believe, between last night and this morning, they mostly made room for books and periodicals. And this wasn't even a good periodical. Somebody had scribbled out the year.

"Isn't even a book," she muttered again. "What's a medical?"

"It's an... analysis made of an individual's body and what might be wrong with it," Obi-Wan said slowly. "You said something about losing memories...?"

"Yeah, right here," Peridot agreed, running a tiny green finger down the length of the paper, and coming to rest on a bit about exactly that. "It says that the patient fell unconscious and woke up with a bunch of memories missing."

There was a long pause, and then she looked up at Obi-Wan in question.

"Is that normal for your species?"

Because really, it would explain so much about them.

"No, it is not," Obi-Wan said slowly. "Does it say a date at all, by any chance?"

Because it could be nothing.

"November," Peridot replied, frowning a little. "But the year is gone. At least, I assume it's the year. Dates usually have the year on them, don't they?"

They had so far as she had seen, but she was still new to this.

"Yes, they do." Obi-Wan sighed. "How about we form a stack of notable material?"

He gestured towards the table. "It may be useful, or it may be nonsense. It is too early to tell."

Peridot nodded, and then made her way over to the table. It took her a moment to get up there to place the clipboard on it - she had to climb onto a chair, first, after all - but once she was there, she took a moment to stare down thoughtfully at the clipboard before setting it down on the tabletop.

"There," she declared. "Stack started."

She still wasn't terribly sure what was notable about it, but she couldn't deny that having found something that one of the teachers here thought might be useful was satisfying all the same.
