Today Anakin stood alone in front of the class. His expression told them Not to Ask about it. He didn't think that would be enough to stop Ahsoka, though.

"This weekend is Homecoming," Anakin said. "A chance for old alumni--" including more relatives than Anakin could shake a lightsaber at, "--to return and see how much their lives have changed from when they were students. Several Earth-based religions also use the autumn as a time to take stock of their lives and celebrate a new start."

Obi-Wan's absence in class was weighing more heavily on Anakin than he would admit to. Anakin had been doing some serious stock-taking since Parents Weekend. "So today, think back on the last year you've had--your mistakes--and tell the class something you'd like to become better at doing over the next year. As for me, I will work on becoming more open in my communications."

Yeaaaaaaaaaah. Good luck with that, Anakin.

Yeah, Anakin's narrative was completely right on one front.

"Did something happen to Master Kenobi?"

"He had to return home for an errand," Anakin said vaguely.

Ahsoka raised a brow. "So you're being vague for two?"

"Yes," Anakin said, nodding. "At least until Obi-Wan decides to share his whereabouts in more detail with me."

Ahsoka nodded and chewed her lip. "Did something happen with Obi-Wan?"

It wasn't exactly a baseless concern, given the last time Obi-Wan had decided not to share information with Anakin it had almost ended in Obi-Wan getting killed to avenge his own murder.

Anakin shrugged. "You have to ask him."

Because Anakin was ten.

"Well, he's not here to ask, is he?"

Ahsoka didn't like it when her space dads Anakin and Obi-Wan fought as opposed to bickered.

"He's angry with me," Anakin said. "Rightfully so."

"Because you decided you could deal with a Jedi hunter by yourself?"

Maybe she still had some ambiguous feelings at being sent off the island alone.

"That was probably a good chunk of it, yeah," Anakin admitted.

Ahsoka, Obi-Wan would've just been angrier about that and you know it.

Anakin snorted out loud. "That would not have helped."
