Today Anakin stood alone in front of the class. His expression told them Not to Ask about it. He didn't think that would be enough to stop Ahsoka, though.

"This weekend is Homecoming," Anakin said. "A chance for old alumni--" including more relatives than Anakin could shake a lightsaber at, "--to return and see how much their lives have changed from when they were students. Several Earth-based religions also use the autumn as a time to take stock of their lives and celebrate a new start."

Obi-Wan's absence in class was weighing more heavily on Anakin than he would admit to. Anakin had been doing some serious stock-taking since Parents Weekend. "So today, think back on the last year you've had--your mistakes--and tell the class something you'd like to become better at doing over the next year. As for me, I will work on becoming more open in my communications."

Yeaaaaaaaaaah. Good luck with that, Anakin.

What do you want to work on over the next year?

That was a question that Peridot had roughly a million answers for. It took her a few moments to sort through and really settle on something useful.

"I want to learn more about human mannerisms. I've been informed that much of what I do is often interpreted as abrupt. Or... rude."

No hissing in people's faces, Peridot.

Anakin nodded. "It's difficult to traverse another culture," he said. "It's a good goal, though."

Not letting her Anakin leave Mandalore without her or not pushing harder on what Rex had told her about Fives and the chips weren't exactly things Ahsoka could work on.

"Staying out of trouble I guess." While being vague about what constituted trouble.

"For whose definition of trouble?" Anakin asked.

"Rex's probably." Because Obi-Wan and Anakin were terrible examples.

Anakin thought that over. "That's reasonable."

On the sliding scale of crazy that was their lives, at least.

"To learn more from what Fandom has to offer." It wasn't untrue but it was also extremely vague. It also didn't include anything about the friendships she had made, but that was far too personal.

Anakin nodded. "In terms of people or the environment?" he asked. "Or the travel options, really?"

"I would say all of it." Again, rather vague.

"Not feeling that specific today?" Anakin asked with a small smile.

Lucille returned the smile. "It is a very personal question."

She could hardly mention things like learning how to better get away with murder from Dr Lecter. Or even something like enjoying more things like playing dress up with Sparkle.

"I hope to improve my writing so that I can better write down stories for my friend." At least that was truthful and not too vague.

"The friend isn't Isabela, is it?" Anakin said, looking vaguely weirded out. "She had some...odd theories on the radio."

"Isabela?" Lucille looked surprised. "No, I have hardly met her."

"I think she writes stories about me," Anakin admitted.

Lucille looked surprised. "Why?"

She saw no reason to write stories about him.

"I have no idea," Anakin said. "I'm not that interesting."

Lucille didn't think he was either, or at least not more interesting than people in general.

"I promise my friend and I are not writing stories about you," she said. "Nor will we ever do so."

All by himself. Sigh.

Yeah, Anakin's narrative was completely right on one front.

"Did something happen to Master Kenobi?"

"He had to return home for an errand," Anakin said vaguely.

Ahsoka raised a brow. "So you're being vague for two?"

"Yes," Anakin said, nodding. "At least until Obi-Wan decides to share his whereabouts in more detail with me."

Ahsoka nodded and chewed her lip. "Did something happen with Obi-Wan?"

It wasn't exactly a baseless concern, given the last time Obi-Wan had decided not to share information with Anakin it had almost ended in Obi-Wan getting killed to avenge his own murder.

Anakin shrugged. "You have to ask him."

Because Anakin was ten.

"Well, he's not here to ask, is he?"

Ahsoka didn't like it when ~~her space dads~~ Anakin and Obi-Wan fought as opposed to bickered.

"He's angry with me," Anakin said. "Rightfully so."

"Because you decided you could deal with a Jedi hunter by yourself?"

Maybe she still had some ambiguous feelings at being sent off the island alone.

"That was probably a good chunk of it, yeah," Anakin admitted.

"I told you I could help."

Ahsoka, Obi-Wan would've just been angrier about that and you know it.

Anakin snorted out loud. "That would not have helped."

"You don't know that."

He did. He really, really did.

"I really do," Anakin said with a tiny grin.

Baby Groot is so cuuuuuuute.
