Library (3/16)

After a very nice ACJ class, Rory made her way to the library and openated it.

The library is open. Read or something, and try not to get maimed in the process.

Parker stopped in between Campaigning and History, and cocked her head at the book of baby names. "Is your mom still taking suggestions for the brother-to-be?"

Bel came into the library during fifth period and spotted Parker. Waiting until she was done talking to Rory, he headed over to her and asked, "Can we talk somewhere?"

Narrowing her eyes, she said, "I suppose." Nodding over to one of the study pits, she said, "Back in a sec," to Rory, then led him over to the couches and coffee tables out of earshot.

"Tell me this is not more bad news. Your last bombshell is still reverberating."

"I said I was sorry! Drusilla must've whammied me or something," Bel protested, desperately grasping for an excuse. "I don't usually forget important things like that." He looked around them nervously. "Are there cameras in here? Is someone gonna hear what I tell you?"

"Probably," Parker drawled, her eyes narrowing still further. "We could go into Special Collections, and stay inside the door, if you want to protect your privacy. I can't absolutely guarantee your safety and continued humanity if we do that, though. If the Collection decides it doesn't like you, it's out of my hands." Which was a huge exaggeration, but she really wanted to know how badly he wanted to keep this conversation quiet.

Bel warily eyed the door to Special Collections. "Okay," he agreed, willing to take the risk. No way did he want what he was going to say recorded by anything.

Parker blinked, surprised, then nodded carefully. "Very well." She led the way over to the Collection, held open the glass door for him, then shut it carefully. "Talk away. Recording equipment tends to go very wonky in here, not to mention cell phones. If anyone even has the guts to check. What's on your mind?"
demonbelthazor: (Worried)

Bel gave the books closest to him a suspicious look as if waiting for one to jump out at him. "Um, remember how I told you there was a way in the Book of Shadows to kill me?" he asked.

"Yessss." Parker narrowed her eyes. "Tell me that you weren't lying. Faithful was *right there*--"

"I wasn't lying," Bel said hastily, holding up his hands. "It's just...it's missing an ingredient. I told Phoebe and Angel what it was, and Angel said I should tell you, too."

Parker pinched the bridge of her nose, not trusting herself to speak for a moment, then nodded sharply. "Please do," she said.

"You just gotta promise not to tell anyone," Bel said, "because if someone like Logan finds out...."

Folding her arms, Parker considered Bel, studying him intently. "It occurs to me that telling me this does involve a certain level of -- trust? Should I be flattered? Or frightened?"

"How wacky are we talking? Greek myth wacky? Home appliance wacky? Nonsense syllables wacky?" Parker took her perch on one of the spinny chairs and asked, "Is your mom busy doing stuff for the baby these days? Because I wanted to ask for her help with another sewing project, but I won't bother her if she's stressed."

"Good. I'll stop by her office hours soon." Parker grinned. "I have ideas for Cam's superhero costume, I just hope she can make them work. What is your middle name, anyway? And did Anakin ever guess it?"

Parker snickered. "Any news from him, on his galactic walkabout? And Lay? As in the potato chips? Rory, I like your mom, but I think that's taking pop culture too far."

"Fingers crossed, then. Aeryn came back. Anakin will too."

"Way too early to say. He'd at least send one of his very best friends a postcard to let her know, either way." Parker tilted an eyebrow at Rory. "Since his galaxy isn't like Aeryn's I hope, and they'd at least let him do that."

Parker shook her head. "I won't jinx it by mentioning anything else. But I think you're wrong. There would at least be a good-bye."
