Library, Sunday

Face wasn't sure exactly why he found being over Endor so hilarious, but he couldn't keep himself from bursting into snickers at random moments.

He'd also managed to dig a few relevant books out of the stacks. Deep out of the stacks.

Part of Cassandra wanted to argue, again, about the inevitably of the Heavy Thing. But that part wisely shut up for once, though whether it was out of wisdom or simply a strong desire to avoid more awkwardness was debatable.

"I suppose it was," she said, subdued. "And I am uncertain how to... bridge whatever divide is between us because of it."

"It is something about which we disagree," Cassandra said. "I will not insult you by insinuating I will change your mind now."

Now that she wasn't worked up and inclined to actually try to shout him into submission, at least.

"So," she said, hating the way her voice went thin and fragile, "I suppose the question remains is whether you feel this terrible enough to cease our-- association-- over."

Groping for words wasn't fun at all.

It was neither. Cassandra was not great with uncertainty.

"Then... what should I do...?" she said.

There had to be something, surely.

Cassandra's life would be so much easier across the board if she could shield bash emotions into submission.

She let out a ragged sigh. "Yes," she said. The 'we' was encouraging, yes, but little more than that. "I agree that we cannot pretend that it did not happen. That would be... unfair, I suppose."

Maker, she was terrible at this.

"We disagree," she said, haltingly. "I believe on this topic we will always disagree." Somewhere, it stung knowing that he was unwilling to trust her on it. But it hadn't stung enough that she'd wanted to be angry at him in some permanent fashion. "Is that something you can live with?"

They only had a few months before Garik left - and Cassandra went home. Surely there would be no further trouble with rogue mages on the island in that time.

She was silent for a long moment. "I would like to," she said. "Yes."

"Perhaps... we can share a meal in the coming week...?" Cassandra said. Still tentatie, but less so now.

"Thursday, perhaps?" Cassandra said. "At the, ah-- the Thai restaurant?"

She was trying to step on her nervousness. Maker.

Cassandra nodded stiffly.

The effect was somewhat ruined by the involuntary sigh of relief that followed.

"I will see you then," she said, and turned and bravely ran away, away walked towards the door.
