Wednesday 3/15, Library is Open

Zero opened up the library, as usual, and settled in behind the desk to be available for all the student body's libraryish needs. Which frequently seemed to consist of gossiping and bringing the aides pastry, but hey, she wasn't complaining.

Zero is something resembling conscious. Hopefully the coffee will have kicked in fully by the time anyone comes in.

Zero is checking the news feeds on the computer to see if she can find out how her parents' hearing went.

Zero is still on the computer. But now she seems to be looking at clothes. And shoes.

Zero is reading her copy of A Midsummer Night's Dream and muttering lines to herself.

The library is closed so the aides may eat in peace.

Zero is writing in her notebook. It may or may not be a song about Peter. What rhymes with 'arachnid?'

Zero is tidying up as the end of the day approaches, moving chairs back into place, stacking books to be shelved, that sort of thing.

Zero returns from the romance novel section with a new book. It features a woman in a chain mail bikini on the cover. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Nadia came in looking very confused and somewhat grumpy . . . and smelling strongly of maple syrup.

"I need to know what a lorax is."

After class, Cameron was minding his own business and on his way back to the dorms when he ran into a mean looking broom. It took a moment for him to realise exactly why he thought the broom looked mean, but when it charged at him and tried to sweep off his legs, he was pretty sure he hadn't misjudged the situation. He tried to get away with it and made a dash to the exits when out of nowhere a mop flew at him and tried cleaning his hair.

Cameron let out a yelp and quickly ran into the nearest doors he could find which happened to be the library. He ran inside and quickly closed the doors behind him, but the mop and broom were trying to follow him in.

Fraser ~~as promised!~~ comes into the library with what he thinks is an overdue library book under his arm.

"A lorax?" Zero asked. "That's from Dr. Seuss. Children's books."

"Hello, Mr. Fraser. Or...what's the proper term of address for a mountie, anyway?"

Zero looked up from her workstation. "Something wrong, Cam? You look like you saw a ghost." She frowned. "Did you see a ghost?"

"Maybe," he kept one hand on the doorhandle as the attacked seemed to hace stopped for now and tried to wipe some of the suds from his face with his free hand. "Can ghosts possess broomsticks and mops?"

"I...really wouldn't know. You were attacked by a mop?" Zero giggled.

"It's not funny," Cameron grumbled and leaned his ear against the door to see if he could hear them outside.

"Mr. Fraser is perfectly fine," Fraser says. "Constable is also fine. How are you this morning, Miss Hopeless-Savage?"

"Oh, but it is." Zero leaned forward. "Are they followin' you?"

Zero's page finally loaded, and her eyes widened at the amount of the fine Dirk had been ordered to pay. "I'm swerval! Thanks for askin'. Is there anything I can help you with?"

"It's quiet now," Cameron carefully pulled open the door. The hall seemed to be empty. He stuck his head out and immediately the mop and broom pounced him. "Gah!" He pulled back and slammed the door shut.

"Perhaps," he says slowly and sets the book on the counter. "I seem to have an overdue library book. I'm prepared to pay the fine."

Zero blinked a few times. "D'you need to borrow my croquet mallet? Or...you could stay here for a while, and maybe they'll get bored and go away."

"I see." Her eyes flicker. "OBEY THE RULES OF THE LIBRARY."

"I somehow doubt I'm as intimidating with a mallet as you are," Cameron carefully backed away from the door as if he'd expected the broom and mop to barge right in any second now. When it didn't happen, he finally turned his back towards it. He looked a bit like a drawned cat, really. "Ugh, I smell like bleach."
