Wednesday 3/15, Library is Open

Zero opened up the library, as usual, and settled in behind the desk to be available for all the student body's libraryish needs. Which frequently seemed to consist of gossiping and bringing the aides pastry, but hey, she wasn't complaining.

Zero looked up from her workstation. "Something wrong, Cam? You look like you saw a ghost." She frowned. "Did you see a ghost?"

"Maybe," he kept one hand on the doorhandle as the attacked seemed to hace stopped for now and tried to wipe some of the suds from his face with his free hand. "Can ghosts possess broomsticks and mops?"

"I...really wouldn't know. You were attacked by a mop?" Zero giggled.

"It's not funny," Cameron grumbled and leaned his ear against the door to see if he could hear them outside.

"Oh, but it is." Zero leaned forward. "Are they followin' you?"

"It's quiet now," Cameron carefully pulled open the door. The hall seemed to be empty. He stuck his head out and immediately the mop and broom pounced him. "Gah!" He pulled back and slammed the door shut.

Zero blinked a few times. "D'you need to borrow my croquet mallet? Or...you could stay here for a while, and maybe they'll get bored and go away."

"I somehow doubt I'm as intimidating with a mallet as you are," Cameron carefully backed away from the door as if he'd expected the broom and mop to barge right in any second now. When it didn't happen, he finally turned his back towards it. He looked a bit like a drawned cat, really. "Ugh, I smell like bleach."

"Only a little," Zero assured him.

"Thanks," he grimaced and took the nearest seat. "How's it going?"

"All right." Zero scowled at the computer screen. "'M tryin' to figure out if my parents are in jail or what."

Cameron blinked as he didn't consider that to be 'all right'. "Whoa. What happened?"

"Hmm? Oh, you mean it wasn't on the radio? Huh, guess that's just Fandom stuff. We got arrested over the break. At a demonstration. Their hearing was supposed to be today."

"I've been missing a lot of radio lately," Cameron explained and winced. "Ugh, sorry. Any luck finding something out?"

"Not yet. Maybe in a little while." She shrugged. "Eh, these things happen."

"I guess so," he said although it usually didn't happen to his family.

"We're, uh, not like other families," Zero admitted.

"Yeah, I figured from the movie night you held a while back," Cameron smiled. "Keeps things interesting?"

"Sometimes a little too interestin'." Like when her parents got kidnapped over the rights to a song. But she didn't say that.

"Uh huh," Cameron nodded. "Like this school can be?" He got up and moved back to the door.

"Well, no, there aren't any vampires or zombies or psychics or whatever, but...y'know. Interesting. You think the cleaning supplies have moved on by now?"

"True, but then nothing is quite like Fandom." Cameron pulled open the door and stuck his head out again, it wasn't like he could smell worse. He didn't get jumped this time. "Seems so."

"Good luck?"

"Thanks, let's hope I don't need it." Cameron carefully moves into the hall. When he doesn't get jumped right away, he heads towards the exit. If Zero listens, though, she'll hear a yelp, gurgling and someone running for his life a little while later.

He gets chased all the way back to the dorms.

Zero shook her head and made a note on a post-it to not forget her mallet when she headed back to the dorms.
