"So last time, before we all had our super duper fun fall break vacations, we went to Manehattan, the glittering jewel of Equestria's east coast and home of some of the hottest fashions and best theater in the whole land! This week, I thought we'd swing on over to the west coast and check out some fun in the sun in Laaaaaaas Pegasuuuuuuuuuuuuuuus!" Pinkie flung her hooves in the air with her traditional cheer and lead the class through the portal into a bright, sunny city lined by mountains, desert, and ocean. "Now, some ponies have been known to think of this place as the gambling capital of Equestria, but that's Las Haygus, not Las Pegasus. Las Pegasus is better known for its most famous neighhhhhborhood, Applewood! Where all the most famous pony stars of screen go to work entertaining and educating all of Equestria with their funny little moving pictures!"

That's right, the world of ponies had a film industry, but no lightbulbs. Also, the trains were pulled by horses. Because what even is technology?

"Now, there's all sorts of things to see and do around here. So many I don't even know where to begin! You can go see the hoof prints at the Saddle Arabian theater! Or go shopping along Rodeo Drive! Or spend some time catching some rays on the beach! Or go up into the mountains for some skiiing! THERE'S SO MANY THINGS!" Pinkie bounced around an overstimulated, gleeful circle for several moments, then stopped dead, staring at the class. "Well? What's everypony waiting for? GO EXPLORE!"

And she bounced away with a gleeful squee!

They were going to LA. Pony LA!

Kathy wasn't even sure what to do here. She wanted to go see the pony version of Koreatown. She also wasn't entirely sure she should go see the pony version of Koreatown. Seeing the ponies filming movies could be fun, but it might just give her a headache as she tried to figure out how?!? and tried to make their tech make some kind of logical sense.

Maybe she should just hang out at the ponified Venice Beach and not think about it too much.

Except that would probably leave her thinking about other things. So, umm, Applewood, here she's come?

No really, it's basically everything.

Alana didn't talk about it a lot, but she'd always had a secret dream to be an actress. She was a wide-eyed tourist as she made her way to Saddle Arabian to look at the hoof prints. She'd never heard of the stars, but so what? Movies were glamorous anyhow.

If you can get her to slow down long enough for you to keep up

Pinkie ushered the students back through the portal, staying behind to do a quick head count as usual and make sure she didn't lose any of them to the excitement that was Equestria. As the last student went through, she finished her count, bounced high in the air -- and glowed a shimmery berry pink for several seconds, as her usual cutie mark of three balloons warped and morphed into a trio of apples instead. The glow faded, and Pinkie dropped wide-eyed back onto her hooves, not seeming to notice that the portal was about to close on her and leave her behind.

She blinked a few times and looked back at her flank, and the apples that now sat there. She turned and looked at her other flank. More apples. She blinked more. Then her bright, happy, curly hair deflated, falling stick straight down over her scowling face.

"Las Pegasus?" she groaned, as the portal finished closing, cutting her off from Fandom and her class. "Aw man! It's going to take me ages to get back to the farm now!"

And she turned and trudged away, glowering.

[ooc: students are welcome to notice Pinkie not following them home, and to spot the beginning of her transformation, but they won't make it back through the portal in time to fetch her or anything.]

AND PINKIE'S OVERDUE CANON CATCHUP BEGINS! Because ponies' personalities are apparently LITERALLY DICTATED by their cutie marks. . . .

That is one of my daughter's favorite episodes of MLP, and I've heard that song about three gazillion times. (I have heard "A True True Friend" four gazillion because she asked for it to be burned to CD.)

No larger point, just needed to share :-).

SHE IS A LITTLE GIRL WITH TASTE!

I mean, I mostly like the episode because the whole cutie mark thing is some weird-ass world building, and True True Friend is no Smile, but still. ;D

...I thought you meant the Lily Allen song for a second and had to Google. Sigh.

But yeah, she's got quite respectable taste for a third-grader!
