When the portal had opened up on the way to Zhahar's work, the sisters hadn't even paused to discuss it. Zhahar was diving through as Zeela and Sholeh cheered inside her head, Zeela effortlessly taking the body as they rolled out onto the warm expanse of Fandom lawn. As soon as she ascertained that there was no danger (always a possibility with Fandom), she'd given the body to Sholeh who was practically vibrating with excitement. There was really only one place for Sholeh to go. The library had been her favorite place in Fandom, even more 'hers' than their dorm room had been. It just felt right to head back there.

And when the books clustered around her and greeted her like an old friend, she knew she'd made the right choice.

Oh, it felt so lovely to be back!

"Jono said that I could dress up for Halloween, and I don't know what to be, and I thought about being a princess but you're a real one and I'm not and--"

Disaster?

Alluka looked at Elsa hopefully.

Elsa could fix it, right? She didn't even have to be a princess!

Elsa took a moment to parse that. She was at least familiar with Halloween now, which was a help, and being a princess was an even bigger one, with this particular request. Or... this particular aborted train of thought that Elsa was fairly certain was meant to be a request.

"You'd like a bit of help playing the part?"

It seemed like a safe guess.

Alluka made a squeaky noise.

"Am, am I allowed?!"

"As an actual, real princess, I'm saying you're totally allowed," Elsa laughed, happily. "I can even help you with your hair, if you like."

Because... really. Look at her hair. Princess hair was a commitment.

It was! It totally was!

"You're the best, Elsa!" Alluka said, beaming. "Yes, please! I want to be a princess!"

"Well, then I think we can make you into a very lovely princess in time for Halloween," Elsa decreed. "We'll need to get you a pretty dress and a crown, at the very least."

"Sholeh, Sholeh said I could be a fairy princess, if I wanted to be," Alluka added, a bit stunned really that she was going to get this. "Can I be? Is that okay? Are princesses allowed to be like that too?"

"Princesses are allowed to be like however they want," Elsa said loftily, because... well, even if it wasn't true, sometimes she liked to embellish. Especially if it would make Alluka a little bit happier. "I'm sure we could find you a lovely pair of wings to wear."

Alluka clapped her hands together, delighted.

"I'm going to be the best princess for Halloween," she declared.

A beat.

"After you," Alluka added, a bit sheepishly.

Jono was probably buying this costume, right? It wasn't like Alluka could afford it...

Jono was definitely buying the costume. He'd made the offer, after all. He'd started this fire.

"I think we might even come out in a draw," Elsa decided, pleasantly. "In fact, I might even decide to be something else for Halloween. And then you really would be the best princess, wouldn't you?"

"Maaaybe," Alluka giggled, and then, diverted, asked, "What would you be for Halloween?"

"I actually haven't entirely given that much thought," Elsa admitted with a soft laugh. "I might have to talk to Barry, to see if he was planning on doing anything. Maybe he and I could have costumes to match?"

Awwww.

"Maybe dragons?" Alluka suggested brightly. "But friendly ones, that like toys!"

"Dragons, hm?" Elsa pondered that for a moment. "I think it would be a lot of fun to be a dragon, don't you?"

A friendly one, of course.

Alluka nodded her head rapidly. So did her bunny.

"You could be all 'RAR!' at people," she said, raising her arms to go 'rar!' herself. "And you could guard your treasure and hoard chocolate."

Best. Dragons.

"Well, a chocolate hoard does sound pretty enticing, doesn't it?" Elsa considered this for a moment. "You know, dragons are known for kidnapping princesses. But if I did, I promise I would share some of that chocolate, at least."

She laughed.

"Then I could be your pet princess and do chores?" she asked, giggling. "I think I read a story like that once!"

"A pet princess of my very own?" Elsa pursed her lips a little. "I'm not sure... my chores? Would you help me eat my chocolate? It's a very important chore, after all."

Alluka was a very well behaved pet, even! Her parents could attest to that!

Which was terrible, a lot, yes.

"It's the most important chore," Alluka said, all big eyes and solemnity. "But I would do my best to help you."

Elsa... would be so, so sad about Alluka's parents. So very. For so many reasons.

"Which would make you an excellent princess for a dragon to kidnap," Elsa decided. "Just so long as no princes came along to try to take you away."

"I don't know any princes," Alluka said matter-of-factly, "so I think you'd get to keep me."
