Ethics, Wednesday, September 2, 2015 [2nd period]

There were two men in long robes standing in front of the class, one significantly taller (and smugger) than the other. (Mind you, the second might have easily been smug, as well, but his expression was largely hidden behind his beard.)

"My name is Obi-Wan Kenobi," said the shorter one of the pair. "Welcome to Ethics. Over the next few months, we will be discussing various topics and problems pertaining to, well, ethics." He smiled a little. "We do not pretend to know the perfect definition of good ethics, if there even is such a thing, so we prefer to let this class be a conversation."

"Which means that everyone in the class needs to listen to everyone else, too," Anakin said. "We encourage discussions, but they can't happen if someone gets stoopa about ideas that aren't what they grew up with. This is a school located in an interdimensional nexus, so chances are there's going to be something that shocks you about someone else. For instance, I learned that this planet likes to make giant sculptures out of butter for fun, and I find that very, very bizarre."

Just at the Iowa State Fair, Anakin, not the entire planet.

"If that statement didn't make it perfectly clear," Obi-Wan said, amused, "Master Skywalker and I are not from this planet." He slipped his hands into his sleeves. "Now, it is tradition for this class to begin with a round of 'two truths and a lie', to get the conversation going. Anakin?"

Anakin smiled. Well, quirked up his lips. "I have two tattoos," he began, "I've saved Master Kenobi's life ten different times, and I've been married three times."

"As for myself," Obi-Wan said, "I was once destined to become a farmer, I've fought in a civil war, and I very much enjoy flying a speeder."

"Take your best guesses on us, and then give us your two truths and a 2lie," Anakin said. "We'll start with...you."

"I'm not saying let's repeat crashing onto Coruscant," Anakin said, "but getting from one place to another while someone else flies me is just not my thing."

"It isn't for me either," Obi-Wan said dryly, "When you are doing the flying."

"Wait until you see how Luke flies," Anakin said with a slightly evil grin.

"That will not be for a long time," Obi-Wan said firmly, "If I chose to ride in the passenger seat at all."

Anakin, you are not helping.

"What are you trying to accomplish?" Obi-Wan asked pointedly.

"I don't really know," Anakin admitted.

"I'm glad we're on the same page, then," Obi-Wan said.

Anakin smiled and ran his hand through his hair. "I might've missed you. Maybe. A tiny, tiny bit."

Obi-Wan smiled a tiny bit. "Well," he said, "I haven't missed you at all."

He was mildly surprised he could be so light about it, already.

Anakin burst out laughing. "Keep telling yourself that."

"So how does it feel to return to the teenagers after your time with the littler ones?" Obi-Wan asked.

"It's nice to know that telling them something isn't going to have them throw a screaming tantrum on the floor," Anakin said.

"To be entirely fair," Obi-Wan mused, "I would not be surprised if one of the teenagers does, eventually."
