The Library is Open (03/02)

Rory came into the library after ACJ, and took a seat behind the desk with her iPod.

[Minor RL crisis - my apologies for not getting this up MUCH sooner]

"I've said it before: we should send him and Sean over to the Middle East to negotiate peace," Rory said practically.

"That wouldn't work. Nothing would be agreed to because they'd be too busy watching puppytime," Peter reasoned.

"Yeah, but no fighting," Rory said.

"Until the puppies went away," Peter said.

"And it'd have to be indoors, anyway. Because of Vladdie."

"Very true. There's a lot of sun over there," Peter said.

"And piles of dust are not as cute as puppies," Rory said seriously.

"Unless the dust is shaped like puppies," Peter suggested. "But even then, they can't play or anything."

"And they aren't fuzzy," Rory said. "And plus, if Angel and I are accompanying the puppies, we have to think of the larger, un-fuzzy vamp."

"Again, very true," Peter said. "But if necessary, he could always just bring a coat, a floppy hat, and an umbrella. If necessary."

"Well, and I'm not exactly sun-friendly. John made me wear sunscreen when we were playing with a slip 'n slide on the first floor because of the fluorescents," Rory said.

Peter laughed. "Poor, pale Rory. You're almost as bad as the vampires."

"The freckles help!" Rory said, flailing a little. "Of course, most of them aren't visible unless you're up close and staring at my arms, but still!"

"Well, now if you want to show the freckles, you can pull your arm off and shove it in people's faces," Peter said. "Um. Don't do that to me, though."

Rory already had a good grip on her wrist, and made a sad face. "Woe."

"I'm sorry but thankful," Peter said.

"I have one of the useful powers," Rory pouted. "And no one lets me use it."

"You can use it. Just don't wave it around in my face or make me pick up your detached limbs, please. Keep your distance while doing it," Peter pleaded.

'Yeah, but I could totally show it off. But noooo, everyone says that's creepy," Rory said.

"Well, it is creepy. But I've fought guys who turn into big gobliny things, a guy made of sand, and a guy who shoots electricity from his body, so I think I can deal with it. I just don't want to," Peter grinned.

"...I know a guy who holds like eighty different jobs a year," Rory said. "And he also does interpretive dance and does strange things. He's pretty creepy."

"Does he have metal arms fused to his torso?" Peter inquired.

"No, but he looks like a Who. Like you know how they're sort of concave, and then paunchy?" Rory asked, motioning a hand down her body as though Peter might not know where one's torso was located.

"Okay, that's kinda weird," Peter admitted. "But the fused arm guy has a bowl cut."

"Kirk lives with his mom," Rory challenged. "He's my mom's age."
