Because Face was a mature person, he was not stubbornly sitting with his legs spread as far apart as physically possible and silently daring the etiquette books to do something about it.

Instead he just had his feet up on the collections desk.

He had plenty to distract him from desks and their edges. "Too much?" he asked.

"It was too much three puns ago," Cassandra informed him dryly.

His mouth was still distractingly close, she realized.

Face's mouth was very good at being distracting. Not dirty.

"I like to overachieve," he said cheerfully.

Not dirty? Or was it?

Whatever it was, Cassandra apparently felt that kissing trumped eyerolling just this once by virtue of Face not punning again.

Hopefully she would not be reinforcing the wrong thing again.

There was only so much dirty one could get up to in a ~~public comm~~ library without quite a lot of people getting grumpy.

Luckily kissing fell far short of that limit.

Cassandra finally let go of his shirt, because she had more important places to put that hand - like his face.

(She could no longer think about the word 'face' without groaning internally, now. Thank you, Garik.)

She cupped his cheek, her thumb lingering over an edge of his scar.

(He aimed to please.)

Face suppressed an instinct urge to pull back at the unfamiliar sensation of someone else touching his scar, because if he did that then there'd be less kissing, and if she couldn't tell already, he kind of liked it. A lot.

Because he didn't flinch, she didn't notice, and she kept her hand where it was.

The kissing was really, really nice-- even if she did have to come up for air, now.

Passing out on the desk would be awkward and hard to explain.

"So was there anything you wanted me to help you with?" he asked.

At least it wasn't a pun?

Cassandra blinked.

Then she cleared her throat and took a single step away from the desk. "Ah," she said, "I was hoping for another... book recommendation."

You had only yourself and your ill-timed jokes to blame for your newfound lack of kissing, Face.

Still if there was one thing he could do, it was thing on his feet. "Actually I have just the one," he said, nodding and shifting so he was sitting on the desk instead of leaning awkwardly over it. "It's about a warrior in training and a former actor."

Cassandra raised an eyebrow. "Really?" she said.

She could sense bullshit incoming; she just was not yet aware if it would be the charming kind.

Like Face would ever try to feed anyone a line of bantha fodder.

"Really." Face nodded. "The warrior has a bit of temper and some strange distaste for puns, but she's very brave and determined, and the actor is very charming, and they're both incredibly good-looking."

Yes. Yes, Face would.

"And does this actor while away his days sleeping on a desk in his place of employment?" Cassandra asked. Dryly, still, though the compliment got a faint smile playing across her mouth.

"As a matter of face, he does," Face said. "Don't tell me you've read this one already."

"It is starting to sound familiar," Cassandra said, sounding like she was amused mostly in spite of herself. "Read me a line from it, it may jog my memory."

"There's this one scene where she comes to visit him at his work," Face started. "He's not sleeping, for once, but that doesn't stop her manhandling him, probably because he used too many puns."

"I did not manhandle you," she protested immediately.

Yes, you did, Cassie.

Face bit his lip before continuing. "Fine, she made it very clear where she wanted him." By manhandling him.

"Thank you," Cassandra said, flushing for no reason at all.

Perhaps she had spent too much time reading dirty fanfic of late.

"Continue."

So long as it wasn't the dirty fanfic where he was with Tetran Cowell, luckily Mara wasn't around to tell her where she could find some.

"Turns out where she wanted him was on the desk, making out." Pause. "A lot."

"Did she, now?" Cassandra mused. "One must wonder, where is the romance in doing such a thing?"

Never mind that she'd just done it...

"It was very romantic making out," Face assured her.

"Perhaps he should have regaled her with some poetry, first," Cassandra said, though she took a step closer to the desk again.

Just remember in the future that you were the one who suggested poetry, Cassandra.

"I suppose he could try that," Face said.
