Bailing 101, Monday

The classroom was empty at starting time; Atton was nowhere to be found.

It was otherwise a completely normal classroom, albeit anyone trying the windows would find them locked in place.

There was no note, there were no other items, just desks and chairs. And quiet, at least for the moment.

After a good 20 minutes, Anders decided that whatever the trick was, it wasn't worth waiting around to see it play out. He gathered his things and left.

"It's how one generally leaves classrooms," Anders said mildly, pleased he'd properly spotted a trick. He looked around the hallway to see if he could spot where the voice was coming from. "The class is called bailing, not being an escape artist."

"I can't argue with that," said the escape champion of Circle Tower, junior league division. "Shall I go back into the classroom and try again?"

"Then I'll see you next week," Anders said easily, and went on down the hall.

Seriously, why would he stick around a class on how to run away once he'd gotten permission to go?

After about ten minutes, Ada was practically twitching with the effort of staying in her seat.

Finally, fifteen whole minutes in, she couldn't manage it anymore. "I need some fresh air if I'm going to sit here twiddling my thumbs," she announced, getting up and going to the window. "It's too nice to stay cooped up in here with the windows shut." She was out of her seat in a shot, over to the windows to open one up. Except...

"Huh." Ada shoved on it again, then tried another one. "Someone give me a hand? I think they're stuck."

Yeah, Jesse was on his first-ever Fandom class, here. He didn't know there'd be tricks involved.

So he was just going to saunter his way out of the classroom at exactly fifteen minutes. Score.

"Holy shit!"

Jesse, honestly, was not in the habit of swearing in front of teachers, but -- well, he didn't know he was in front of teachers, at the moment.

He looked around, eyes wide, searching for the source of the voice. "Who's there?"

"Empty classroom, dude!" Jesse protested, still looking around (and now in the complete wrong direction.) "I didn't flunk anything -- no teacher, no class."

He was so not failing his first new day of school. Not when it had started so promisingly.

And that got another little jump out of him before Jesse smirked a little and cocked a finger at Atton. "That," he said, "was pretty cool. What, you got some kind of invisibility cloak there or something?"

Shut up, he'd heard about some Barry Plodder stuff. Didn't make him nerdy. Shut your face.

"But," Jesse argued, sadly. "But...I don't get it."

He turned to go back in the classroom, because he wasn't dumb enough to get himself kicked out of class on, again, his very first day -- but he was doing it really confused.
