Bailing 101, Monday

The classroom was empty at starting time; Atton was nowhere to be found.

It was otherwise a completely normal classroom, albeit anyone trying the windows would find them locked in place.

There was no note, there were no other items, just desks and chairs. And quiet, at least for the moment.

"It's how one generally leaves classrooms," Anders said mildly, pleased he'd properly spotted a trick. He looked around the hallway to see if he could spot where the voice was coming from. "The class is called bailing, not being an escape artist."

Atton shrugged-- then realized Anders couldn't see the shrugging. Oh, well.

"True," he said, "But a little suspicion and paranoia usually goes a long way if you want to get out of something."

"I can't argue with that," said the escape champion of Circle Tower, junior league division. "Shall I go back into the classroom and try again?"

"Nah, I know enough," Atton said, barely repressing the urge to shrug again. "I mean, you can join the rest and we can have our happy introduction session, or you can go home and have lunch or something."

"Then I'll see you next week," Anders said easily, and went on down the hall.

Seriously, why would he stick around a class on how to run away once he'd gotten permission to go?

Hey, the kid had good instincts. Well, in terms of prioritizing. He was still stupid enough to barge through the most obvious exit in the face of an obvious trap. So Atton wasn't going to make it difficult on him.

... This week. He wasn't going to make it difficult on him this week.
