"They are the ethics teachers, are they not?" Cassandra asked. "Is that class sensible, at least?"

"I am certain you can find books far more fascinating," she said.

Cassandra gave a little shrug. "I enjoy the sense of the books," she said. "Where there is a way such things... work."

"A hero or a heroine can pursue great passions and succeed," Cassandra said, a touch of a smile making it to her face. "Woo or be wooed, and the story plays out as it should. That is power, yes."

She wouldn't know how to play on someone's expectations if her life depended on it. ... of course, if it did, she'd probably just punch the whatever instead.

And say what you will of her methods, but a tricksier person probably wouldn't break away from the Chantry to start a world-saving Inquisition and back away gracefully when a better candidate fell out of the sky showed up to lead it.
