Baking: Sweet and Savory | Monday, 3rd period

Hannibal began class today with everyone at the central island, and nodded at them. "Before we begin, I should perhaps apologize; as you have been informed, I was a reptile last week, and unable to teach."

He paused for a moment. The things he'd never thought he'd hear himself saying!

"I would like to thank Sparkle for his initiative," he nodded to him, "and for his inventiveness in ways of not burning things. However he may have done it." Because microwaves? Honestly, Sparkle? Hannibal was looking slightly pained.

"So, to follow, I thought we would learn to cook brownies in an actual oven." He presented a recipe and its variants on the wall. "As with the mochi, this is a simple recipe that can be altered any number of ways depending upon your preferences. The key to the base is to use quality chocolate and cocoa. Beyond that, there are no new techniques in this recipe, merely application and experimentation." He smiled. "And of course, eating. Enjoy."

"In my own admittedly very limited defense," Sparkle said, "the radio station usually doesn't broadcast anything but gossip."

It was sad because it was true.

"Like, yesterday, the squirrels handed me so many notes about masturbation."

And Sparkle had read them all.

"But I'll tone it down, sure."

It was unfortunately very true, yes.

Hannibal shook his head. "Some people need to learn how to better distract squirrels." It was a solitary pursuit for a reason! "However, I thank you."

"Shiny things and rum, right?" Sparkle chuckled a little.

And stole another nervous glance at the clock.

"But yeah, I'll lay off the shoutouts on the radio. I'll talk to Cecil and ask him to do the same."

"Much appreciated." Hannibal nudged Sparkle's attention back toward his cooking. "Brownies now, phone call later. Though you must let me know how it goes."

"Will do," Sparkle chirped, firing off a sloppy salute before looking back down at the... whole lot of nothing much that he'd managed to measure out so far. "Yeah. I'll talk to you first chance I get, once I have news."

Yeah. He'd totally remember he said that.
