Baking: Sweet and Savory | Monday, 3rd period
"Good morning," Hannibal said when everybody had arrived. "My apologies for last week; I was rather under the weather. This week, we'll be working on something simple and from someplace other than Europe, as requested." He smiled and nodded at the students who'd requested those things.
"Mochi is a traditional Japanese food - it can be a snack on its own, or it can be combined with other things. I have a number of examples here. It has only a few ingredients, and is fairly simple to start, though you do need to be precise and careful."
He pulled up the recipe on one wall and went over it with them. "You may make the plain version, or dress it up however you like. Please feel free to ask me questions if you have them."

Re: Talk to the TA!
That was a waste of wishes, Sparkle!

"Yeah, but only to see if it really worked," he replied with a shrug. And then it did, so... there it was. I had a rubber duck for like half a day. It squeaked, it was yellow. It floated in the sink. It was pretty much everything I could have asked for, in a rubber duck."
Which was to say, it hadn't been disappointing or an unpleasant surprise at all.

There were never guarantees, really. Nothing was permanent. Only varying degrees of fleeting.

And that was a gasp. Just, outright.
"I'm going to do that now. I'm going to do that right now and the ducks are going to be mango."
Just, you know, because declaring that was important.

He'd be so dismayed when he realized exactly how much of the inside of the fruit was actually inedible fibers.
... And so covered in mango juice.
