Library, 2/28

Angela is behind the desk, listening to Throwing Muses on her iPod and staring into space.

She can help with your book-related needs. Cheerfulness is optional, right?

[OOC: Lyrical comment threads are from the Throwing Muses' University album. It's a Kristin Hersh kinda day.]

So Zero's not undead. Well, that's good to know, though she thinks she would have figured that out on her own. "So, what, I'm invisible? Occasionally?"

"Apparently." Parker shook her compact's mirror like cellphone not receiving enough bars, then squinted at Zero, thinking hard. "Okay, so, I see you, right here in front of me, and you have a reflection. But when I had my back turned, you didn't reflect--" Parker slowly starts to turn around, holding out the compact, watching from the corner of her eye as Zero gets out of her peripheral vision and into her blind spot--

and her reflection vanishes from the mirror. "Ha!"

"Ha?" Zero looks confused. Not that it matters, because, oh yeah, no one is looking at her.

"You're invisible when I'm not looking at you!" Parker whirled around in triumph. "Or anyone else is, I assume. That's why you're sneakiness is so hard to quantify, the second we check, you're visible again!"

Zero frowned. "Well, that's not very useful. If I were invisible, now, that I could use." She could fill the pool with jell-o, for starters.

"But it explains why Angela almost put a tape dispenser on your head, and why you keep sneaking up on people." Parker cocked her head. "It does seem kind of useless, because if you aren't really careful, people will look in your direction and you're poof, visible. But still. I'm just happy to know how the hell you got so sneaky so suddenly."

Zero pouted. "I guess no one's weird powers are actually much use. Janet's got things stickin' to her, an' Bridge has animals stickin' to him. Rory's is kind of useful, but also deeply creepifyin'."

"I like Xander's, but in the age of the remote control, it's not actually useful to be able to change the channel with your mind. You've only eliminated one step." Parker, of course, doesn't know about the droids in the Danger shop. Alas. "And some of them are annoying. You couldn't pay me to take on Vala's, or Vernonica's, or Isabel's. Gah."

"I don't even know what theirs are. Clearly I've been missin' a lot while no one noticed me."

"They haven't been telling anyone, they just responded to my I-Club e-mail today-- Veronica is turning water into Nyquil, everything tastes like chicken to Vala, and poor Isabel's butt seems to be made of Jell-O or something. She's bouncy." Parker shook her head. "And those are just the ones that e-mailed me back."

"Oh, no. Those sound awful. Vala's not a vegetarian, is she?"

"I don't think so. But it's everything, even alcohol takes like chicken soup. I'd be going crazy by now." Parker shoook her head. "Even Rory's very very creepy thing is preferable to that, I think. At least she's getting some fun out of it. It sounds like it started about the middle of last week for everyone. So either a magic flu is going around, or I'd bet someone mucked with something, and we're all catching the side-effects."

Zero conveniently didn't remember Logan and his book narrowed her eyes. "Squall. Around here, it could be either."

"Or both. It may *look* obvious, but it might be something else. Which is why I asked people to check in with Bridge-- hopefully he can find some common aura denominator, and we can figure out the cause."

"So, find Bridge. I can do that. Hope he won't have an animal stuck to his head again."
