Rory wandered into the library looking, if possible, more tired than she did yesterday.

"Hey," she said, waving before collapsing into a chair with her cup of coffee.

[ooc: *scampers away for a bit* Just wanted to establish she did, in fact, make it in here at some point, omg.]

"Aloha," Angela said, trying something different.

She registered Rory's tiredness. "Are you okay? I mean, considering."

"Ish," Rory replied with a small smile. She chewed on her lower lip. "So, my ex called and is in the area and wants to meet with me."

"Oh," Angela said hesitantly. "Are you going to go?"

"I don't know," Rory said, frowning at absolutely nothing. "Cameron thinks I should have a fling with someone, like he and Jaye are doing."

Angela frowned.

"...okay?," she said hesitantly. After all, she was the last person to comment about hooking up with exes.

Rory waved a hand. "Sorry. Still thinking and being unhelpful and babbling at you. Did you know Bridgey's sort of figured out his animal thing? He can like, levitate them, now."

"Babbling's cool. I just didn't know what you say," Angela shrugged. "Do you think you're going to see him?"

The follow-up, "And have you tested Bridge on glitter?" was out of her mouth before she realized what she was saying. She winced, waiting for her friend's reaction.

Rory actually let out a soft laugh. "I told him that if he managed it with glitter, I would have a nervous breakdown and blame him. He said that he was pretty sure it's just animals, and then he played with Vladdie and Yoda."

She ran a hand through her hair, exhaling and shrugging. "As for Jess - because yeah, it's Jess and not Dean. And I don't know if I told you or whatever, but Jess is the one who kind of took off without saying anything last June. This is the first I've heard from him in like, six months. So I don't know. I want to see him. I just don't know what he expects of me."

"Maybe he doesn't know himself?" Angela suggested. "He was here for, like, five minutes in September and then took off again, right?"

She rubbed her forehead. "I don't know. I don't want to tell you what to do because I'm still such an idiot about Jordan, unfortunately."

Rory nodded. "I'm still just figuring it out. And I was thinking - when he was here? He seemed different. So I'm wondering if he was like, my Jess. Like you know how Angel talks about his Buffy versus the really shy Buffy who used to go here?"

"Oh yeah, and we didn't know about that stuff back in September. All the parallel universes," Angela said. "Could be. And if his world is only a little bit off from yours? He probably wasn't around long enough that you would even be able to tell, really."

She frowned "Your mom here is your mom, right? I mean, you and her and Luke are all from the same world?"

"Yeah, Mom and Luke and I all came here together, so we're from the same time and everything. Though wouldn't it be trippy if like, my teenage mother pregnant with me showed up?"

Rory ran her thumb over her lower lip thoughtfully. "But anyway, yeah, I can't remember if the Jess who was here ever actually said anything to indicate when he was from. I know he didn't think we were still together, but he could have been from before anything happened. So I'll ask him on Friday, I guess."

Angela blinked. "That would be seriously, deeply weird, if your mom came here. Though I guess it might be nice, for her. I mean, to see that you're all pretty and smart and stuff."

She stuck her hands in her pockets thoughtfully. "Do you want an escort to come with you to meet Jess? Or would that just make things way more weird?"

"Like with bitty baby Bridgey," Rory said. "Since he was born in '04, and from the future and stuff."

"Um...I think escortless is the way to go on this one," she mused. "If for no other reason than that he's really, really not good with people. Jess makes Logan look social and easy to talk to. But thanks."

"Has our Bridge tried to get in touch with his parents in this time?" Angela asked. "Because that might be cool, but wow, weird."

She hid a smile behind her hand at Rory's description of Jess. "No problem," she said. "And, um, am I allowed to say you sort of seem to have a type?"

"No, but we were talking about it a couple weeks ago and he's thinking about it, I think," Rory replied. "And yeah, weird."

She giggled. "I do, don't I? Though you might think differently if you met Dean. He's...he's like a less shy, less broody Anakin. Only without the Jedi thing, obviously. But very unlike Jess or Logan or, um, anyone else I've dated. But then again, he was my first boyfriend, so maybe the type wasn't established then."

"Or maybe you have two types?" Angela suggested. "The Jess/Logan type, and the Dean/other people type. Or maybe you just like who you like, and there isn't a type. Is Logan like Jess other ways, other than not playing well with others?"

She sighed. "I may think about this stuff too much."

"Logan and Jess are very similar, yeah. Like, with the way they react to things. They both have...um...anger issues. With the whole acting out, teenage rebel thing they do," Rory sighed. "I think I do have the two types, and when I break up with one, I go to the other, you know? Though I did go from Jess to Logan, but I had a whole summer between that. So I don't know. I think I might be overthinking this."

"I think we're allowed to overthink on boys," Angela shrugged. "Actually? There might be a law that we have to."

She leaned against the counter, arms crossed. "So ... with the flinging? Are you thinking of yourself as single?"

"We need to overthink a few guys. Because some of them just do not make sense to me," Rory said, shaking her head. "Most of them, really."

She sighed yet again. "I'm...thinking of myself as not single, no. But I guess we're on a break, or something? I don't know. I'm confused. And I don't think I want to do the flingy thing, but I'm not sure. I mean...."

She lowered her voice. "I don't know how I feel about staying committed to someone worlds away who may or may not come back, you know? It's...confusing. I mean, until last night I had no doubts, but then Jess called and everything got kind of muddled."

"Guys so do not make sense, ever." Angela scrunched her nose, considering this. "Okay, my friend Ricky back home does, kind of, but he's gay.

"And I can't tell you what to do on the fling, commitment, Jess thing. Just ... don't do anything just because you're hurting, okay? I'm pretty sure that's a bad idea."

"Maybe gay guys make sense," Rory speculate, "because they're kind of like girls?"

"And no, I know. I'm just going to see what Jess wants, anyway. For all I know, he just wants to borrow books, or something."

"Maybe. Or because they aren't trying to hit on us," Angela said. "There's more honesty."

She smirked at Rory's next statement, though. "Ror? I know I don't know Jess, but no way did he drive six hours, minimum, to borrow a book. Unless there's a serious library shortage in Connecticut."

"That's what he does, though," Rory said, shaking her head and laughing a little. "He's the only person I've met who's as insane over reading as I am. He's the one who got me into writing in the margins and stuff."
