"Nothing I really want to get into. Let's just say Jack's the best consolation I've got." Parker shrugged. "And I'm kind of amused at Jaye. Or admiring? I guess. Break-up, then move on. Simple."
"It's called rebound, Parker. I don't know if Jaye's moved on," he sighed and sideways. "I know I haven't, but at least I didn't spend my weekend thinking of someone who's going nowhere with me."
He met her eyes again. "So, you've got Jack. I've got Jaye... Maybe, I don't know. Sound like the same kind of boat?"
She tilted an eyebrow. "Sort of? Except that my ex disappeared from the face of the planet-- which was a relief-- and yours is still right here. Which has to be rougher, I think." She gave a slow one-shoulder shrug. "It gets better?"
She reached out and nudged his arm. "Hey. At least Vala didn't cheat on you or stab you in the back." Parker winced, remembering Michael, then what she and Lee had done this weekend. "So, you don't have that fun part to deal with. You guys just didn't work out. I *have* to believe it only takes a while to get over that."
He tilted his head. "I don't know, sometimes it feels like it would be easier if I could be pissed off. With Beka, it was simple. She messed with me and I couldn't trust her. Vala? It's still all there, I still want it but I know I won't get to keep it."
"Were you in love with Beka?" Parker bit her lip. "I'm sorry, that's pretty rude. And maybe there is no comparison. I wasn't in love with Michael, after all. I just really, really liked him."
"We knew each other for a week, that really isn't hte word I'd use. Crush? Yeah, possibly. Love? No. I realised that when I got Crichton's memories of Aeryn," he studied Parker for a moment. "So, you liked him but he was a jerk to you and cheated? You can do better, Parkie. I'd offer to beat him up but..."
"Hunh. That much of a difference. I guess...." Parker looked thoughtful, then grimaced. "And basically that's what Michael did, yeah. It's a little more complicated, and has to do with why he got expelled. But Principal Bristow asked me not to talk to anyone about that." She shrugged, looking away. "Thanks, though. I'd like to think you're right. Jack's better, but he's not really-- well." She rolled her eyes, but kept smiling. "We both know it's nothing that's gonna last forever."
"Yeah... yeah." Parker nodded, then smiled with a little more feeling. "Anyway. Stupid love lives. How's the rest of your life going? You were gone there for a while a few weeks ago. Still catching up?"
It took a moment before he knew what she was refering to. "Yeah, all caught up. I think I might actually have some money again after this weekend too."
"Wicked. I hope you and Jaye get some use out of the chocolate paint, since they didn't work out with Vala." She grinned. "You're not going on the England trip?"
"StuCo got extra funding-- you don't have to pay the fee now, if you want to go." She grinned. "Think how much fun you could have in the Tower of London. Or in Nottingham Forest."
"Slacker." She grinned and poked him in the arm. "And you're not in the play, either, so you'll just have an entire lazy week off. I think I'm almost jealous."
"It is fun, it's just as a StuCo rep, I have to help plan it. Less fun. And awwww." She shook her head. "I'm sure Jaye will send you camera-phone pix from the London night clubs."
"Except for where I get to tell people what to do, sure." Parker grinned, then shrugged. "I'm sure she'll send them to *everyone*. RadioGirl at her worst. Or best? Whichever. You'll still be friends after the fling is flung, I hope."
