"Welcome to Ink & Holes." Yup, another e-mail went out that the class was meeting somewhere outside of the school grounds. "Everybody got those ID's we... ahem? Cool. Look around at the flash. Talk to the tattoo artists. I want you to walk out of here with at least some mehndi, henna or stick-on. Let's see some self-expression here. Or, if you want to pierce yourself, that's cool too." She looked around for Cecil and pointed to him. "Dude, they have animated tattoos!"

Okay, not quite the eldritch kind he was hoping for, but still.

"Look around, knock yourself out, we're getting ice cream afters."

There's tons of jewelry for any kind of piercing, as well as the tattoos, too.

Yeah, Karina was noping hard to the tattoo thing. Her parents would kill her, sure, but she was more concerned with her career here.

Blue Rose would be in so much shit if she started showing up with tats. Karina could just imagine her manager's response.

So, yeah, Karina would be over here. Looking at the jewelry.

Emma wondered if it'd be cheating to use her tattoo for this. Talking that guy into doing her wrist during the fall break trip totally counted, right?

There was no way in hell Kaylin was getting a tattoo. No way in fucking shit hell! Not with the markings she already had all over her that came from gods only knew where and made her think about things she REALLY DID NOT WANT TO BE THINKING ABOUT RIGHT NOW!!!

There was also no way she was letting anyone see her arms or back. No way in all the hells!

And letting someone put holes in her body? She thought not!

She was in a particularly black mood today.

So, here was a thing: Raven had absolutely no idea how tattoos -- or piercings, for that matter -- would work on her. Would they stay when she shifted forms? Or would she be wasting her money on something she could just as easily mimic?

She had to admit, some of the jewelry was really pretty. She especially liked the variety of skulls. Maybe she could pick a couple up, and just wear them on occasion for fun.

The fact that it'd give Charles a heart attack was definitely a bonus.

Cecil grinned at her. "Do you think they'd work on you?" he asked, not having read the narrative.

"I don't know," Raven said. "I'm a little afraid to find out. It would be like wearing actual clothes and then having to shift into someone else. I can't change anything that didn't come from me."

"Hm. Yeah, and they might be the wrong color for your skin-tone or something, then," Cecil noted. "You could probably just do your own, though! Without needles, even." He grinned and bounced a little. "You could be an illustrated woman!"

"I don't know what I would even illustrate," Raven said. "How about you, you see anything you think is fun?"

"I don't know," Cecil confessed, eyeing the pictures all over. "I do sort of like the eyes and swirly things, but it's not as much fun if they don't move..."

Which didn't mean he wasn't thinking about it.

"Maybe you can do a temporary one right now, then get it done for real next time you go home?"

Toby was kind of distractedly paging through a book of sample tattoo art. He wasn't particularly interested in getting something done at the moment, but it seemed like today was one of those days where most of the island's thoughts seemed more... intense... than usual, and it was starting to give him a headache. Looking at the artwork at least gave him something to focus on that wasn't, say, the epic rage fit currently occuring over at the Perk because the barista gave a customer the wrong latte.

Kenzi draped herself over his back. Appropriateness? Schmappropriateness. "Whatcha thinkin' of getting?" Hiiii!

"Huh?" Toby blinked at her distractedly. "Oh, I'm not- not really thinking of getting one," he admitted, tilting his head to give her a peck on the cheek because see above re: appropriateness, schmappropriateness.

"We could put my initials on you. Somewhere." That nobody else would get to see, wheee! She waved her hand in front of him. "You're kinda zoning, sweetie."

"Am I?" Toby blinked. "Sorry. There's just-" he did a wave-twirl with one hand. "One of those days where everything's noisier than usual," he tried to explain.

"Hunh." Kenzi considered that, hugging him still. "Weird. I feel pretty normal. Nobody's turned into anybody else that I've seen. Noisy good, or noisy bad?"

"Hard to say," Toby murmured, keeping his voice low so as to hopefully not attract the curiosity of squirrels. Or his classmates. "It's not even everyone, but some people are just really- intense right now? Like, this one girl I passed on the way here kept complimenting everyone on how nice they looked today."

Vider skipped the jewelry on the reasoning that piercings could get ripped out, but another tattoo, one that she just wanted, could maybe be a thing.

Cosette was a little wide-eyed, yes, but not in a horrified way. Intrigued, and somewhat taken aback, but that was culture shock, not revulsion.

She wasn't about to get a tattoo, no. (Her father would be horrified if she did, for reasons he'd never explain to her.) That didn't stop her from entertaining the idea of which one she would get, if she did.

The jewelry, on the other hand -- that got more of a dubious look from her.

Kenzi swooped in and alighted on the case next to her. "You could get earrings! Little sparkly ones. Think how much other stuff you could wear with pierced ears."

"I'd already been considering that," Cosette admitted. "They are pretty."

Kenzi batted at one of the turning displays, finding a few that were dangly. "They don't cost much. They're not genuine stones, if you were wondering about that." She grinned. "Something... hmm, like these, maybe... you don't exactly strike me as the tattoo type."

"No, I don't think that suits me quite as much," Cosette said, leaning forward to peer at the racks; she seemed more interested in the studs than in anything dangly, at least for now. "But look, they're so pretty! One would almost never realize they aren't real."

"Little stars, little crosses, flowers... do they have pierced ears in 18-whenever-you're-from?" Kenzi checked.
