"Welcome to Ink & Holes." Yup, another e-mail went out that the class was meeting somewhere outside of the school grounds. "Everybody got those ID's we... ahem? Cool. Look around at the flash. Talk to the tattoo artists. I want you to walk out of here with at least some mehndi, henna or stick-on. Let's see some self-expression here. Or, if you want to pierce yourself, that's cool too." She looked around for Cecil and pointed to him. "Dude, they have animated tattoos!"

Okay, not quite the eldritch kind he was hoping for, but still.

"Look around, knock yourself out, we're getting ice cream afters."

"Little stars, little crosses, flowers... do they have pierced ears in 18-whenever-you're-from?" Kenzi checked.

"Oh, yes, I just haven't had it done myself," Cosette replied. "The sisters wouldn't have allowed it, and I don't suppose it ever occurred to me, really."

"Ah. Well, it hurts. But only for a minute. Then you have to leave them in while your ears heal, so. Pick a pair you'd like to wear for weeks," Kenzi said, pointing at little silver petals, gold curlicues, and some pink-toned stones. "Do you miss the nuns?"

"I suppose. I don't think about them much," Cosette admitted. "I certainly don't miss the rules, no, indeed."

She spun a display rack around with one finger, looking over the various choices. "Ah! Yes," she said, and held a pair of simple faux-amethyst studs on silver posts aloft. "These will do quite well for now, I think. They aren't too big, but look how nicely those stones catch the light, even if they aren't real!"

"Shiny violet wins!" Kenzi cheered. "And they're small enough to go with anything, just by the sparkle." She looked around for the technician, bouncing on her toes. "Yo, we need some help over here!"
