Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Throughout the lawn, tables and chairs had been set up and scattered, some out in the bright, sunny center of everything, and some in the darker, more remote areas.

Eat up, folks! Don't let that food go to waste!

[OCD up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

She nodded. "They can also call up data from the records if they're connected the right way. Mine at home can't, of course. Mine's the cheapest I could get. People can contact me through it and leave a message if I'm not there. At the Halls of Law, though, they can access records about almost anything. Images, moving pictures, data - whatever they need."

"Wow," he said, eyes widening just a touch. "That sounds like some of the most versatile uses for a mirror that I've ever heard of. I don't think you're gonna find anything like that here. Some of the mirrors might talk on the weird days this island has but they're pretty much just used to take a look at yourself in the morning and make sure your hair isn't sticking up all over the place."

"I brought one with me," Kaylin said, "Or it was sent here for me, really. So I can talk to people back home. I can show you how it works sometime if you want."

"Yeah sure," he said, nodding. "I'm Will West, by the way. I use a telephone and a computer to talk to my friends back home. Don't think too much about those right now. They're different kinds of communication devices to put it simply."

"I can see I'm going to need some help," Kaylin said with a sigh. "It's nice to meet you, Will. I'm Kaylin Neya."

"Well, I can definitely give helping a try," he said with a small snicker. "I just hope I don't confuse you more or anything like that. It's easy to do when I'm so used to everything."

Kayin shrugged. "I get confused a lot, but if it's important I'll learn. If you know how things work that can only help."

"I'm not the greatest teacher but I'll do my best to help when I can," Will promised. "You'll get it though. Once you start to get some things, the rest will flow easier."

"Probably," Kaylin agreed. "And I appreciate your help. In advance. In case I forget to say thank you along the way, you know?"

She knew herself very well.

"It's no problem," Will said with a shrug. "Just take a few days to get your bearings. I did that when I first got here and it helped."

"I will," Kaylin said. "And I'll have to thoroughly scout out the whole town and area around it, so I know - well... all the ins and outs."

And escape routes should they be needed.
