Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I
With all the rain that had blown through earlier in the week, the school administration had been worried that welcome picnic day would be wet and gloomy. Thankfully, it was sunny, warm, and beautiful outside, and everything had been set up just in time for the shuttle of new folks to arrive. There was a buffet table of food and drinks waiting, along with the list of Big and Little Siblings, the list of roommates, and more name tags than they'd probably need for three picnics.
Also, there wasn't a single flower out on the lawn after last weekend. Just saying.
With everything in place, it looked like it was time for the first summer term to begin!
[OCD up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Re: Meet Your Teachers [Summer 2014]
Actually, it would probably be a fascinating list.
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Summer 2014]
Then he shrugged. "I feel less useful sometimes than I would prefer; I have no marvelous or catastrophic powers with which to help anyone. I know no more than rumors or legends of most of the things people here have faced in their own worlds, let alone what they face here. I'm much less prepared or useful than some."
Woe was him; did you feel sorry for him yet, Jono?
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Summer 2014]
//And yet you step up and hold your own just as well as any of the rest of us when somebody calls for help,// Jono replied with a shrug of his shoulders. //Don't think I didn't see you riding on the back of a bloodied-up unicorn after stitching her back up again, in Sceval. I spent a good portion of that day taking lives. You saved them.//
The narrative would like to take a moment to be amused by that.
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Summer 2014]
"I do what I can," Hannibal answered. "But it does mean that when I see something I might be able to help with, I may be very bad about letting it go." He gave Jono a grin.
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Summer 2014]
//It isn't strange or unprofessional or what-have-you, having a friend as a patient?//
Jono was more inclined to trust Hannibal than any number of other psychiatrists he'd encountered over the years. He seemed marginally less likely to kidnap him away to a cult hideout somewhere to forcibly turn him into an Apocalypse clone, for example.
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Summer 2014]
Right after more face-palming about overly dramatic villain names.
"Not as doctor and patient," he corrected. "Just as friends. But a friend with specialized knowledge he doesn't mind sharing when he feels it would benefit."
Yes, Jono; Hannibal wanted to be friends with benefits.
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Summer 2014]
//Have a conversation about what's tearing me apart without me screaming internally and pawing at the place where my head ought to be? That hardly seems my style,// Jono replied, again, only half serious. //Still... it would be good to have somebody to talk to who understands that derailing a conversation to yell at me for my injuries isn't going to get us anywhere near what's actually bothering me...//
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Summer 2014]
"I will make an arrangement with you - if you are ever seriously in pain or harmed, you will let me know. In exchange, I will assume that if you do not say so, you are not, and I will do my best not to fuss. Agreed?"
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Summer 2014]
At all. Ever. It mostly just made him want to get more distance. He'd make an awesome hermit just to avoid the attention if anybody ever, say, lopped off one of his arms or something.
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Summer 2014]
He shook Jono's hand on the agreement. "And I prefer not to fuss. I would rather fix things, or let them go." Or kill them, of course. That went without saying, right?
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Summer 2014]
//Well then... Maybe we can sit and actually chat one of these days. I'll admit, I am curious to see what you have to say about some of the same things I've been holding back from other people over the years.//
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Summer 2014]
"I hope we will continue to chat quite a bit," he answered. "Some of it more focused than other times." He smiled. "For today, shall we discuss what food to have in class this week?"
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Summer 2014]
... He was going to insist on pizza at least once, though.
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Summer 2014]
It would be gourmet and nearly unrecognizable as pizza.
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Summer 2014]
Jono would take it.
//Looking forward to it,// he decided, clearly amused. //I mean, to see what else it is I've been missing out on for so long.//
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Summer 2014]
"Along with your chips and beer." Hannibal shook his head, fighting a smile. "I am teaching with a heathen."
He'd probably bring beer, too. But it would be good beer!
