There were worse ways to choose which dishes you wanted.

"Mayflowers," Rilla said immediately, looking a little wistful. "My brother Walter brought her some last spring...I hope Shirley remembers. And then daffodils and violets."

"Sugared violets are lovely," Rilla said with a smile. "I don't think it actually occurred to me until now that they are really flowers that we're eating. I thought they were brilliant candy."
