Library, Friday

From the way things had sounded on the radio, Billy had a feeling he'd have more visitors than usual today. So, he spent the early part of his shift making sure the library was in order, putting books back where they belonged and checking for anything strange - typically strange, not new!strange. He was kind of hoping there wouldn't be any of that today, but he also knew how far hope usually got people here.

"More like people with superpowers," Billy said. This shouldn't have been as amusing as it was, and he had a feeling he'd be giving Kenzi a hug if/when this was all over. "You haven't noticed anyone doing strange stuff?"

"I think you're the first person here I've talked to. And when you have a toddler, they have a way of distracting you. If nothing's blowing up within a five-mile radius, I could miss it."

"BOOM!" Mia yelled.

"Right, like that." The wheels in Kenzi's head were visibly turning. "Are you serious? Seriously serious? ... and if you are, is there a way I can get some superpowers? Because that would be sweet."

"I could say something schmoopy about how being a mom means you already have a superpower, but I'll refrain," Billy said with a laugh. "Most people came here with their abilities. That's just kind of how it works."

Kenzi made a face at him and said, "Da--dangit. I was really hoping to get something like the ability to stop time. I would use the shit out of that power."
