Library, Friday

From the way things had sounded on the radio, Billy had a feeling he'd have more visitors than usual today. So, he spent the early part of his shift making sure the library was in order, putting books back where they belonged and checking for anything strange - typically strange, not new!strange. He was kind of hoping there wouldn't be any of that today, but he also knew how far hope usually got people here.

Joker facepalmed. "'Kay, listen: I feel you, but there is a time and a place. If you would like us to get you home, it would help if you weren't an ass."

Jamie opened up his mouth to say something but was interrupted by the arrival of ten of his duplicates.

"We just finished reading all of Einstein's writings on relativity and found nothing. "

"Okay," said Jamie, "go ahead and start on Freeman Dyson's work. "

Then Jamie turned back to Joker. "What was that you were saying? I'm an ass? Probably. Let me work a little harder. "

He rapped the desk five times on the desk creating five more duplicates. "Go read Carl Sagan."

And then when the dupes were on their way, Jamie licked his finger and carefully turned the page on his Jughead comic."

Joker watched them go, staring.

"I..."

A-yup.

"Never mind. You rock on with your bad self. I've only got the one pair of eyes, so I'm gonna be over here feeling inadequate, now."

"No reason to feel that way," Jamie said genially. "You didn't know. And while I'm not really doing anything now when this research period is over I'm going to have to absorb those guys and everything they've read. Therefore? Jughead."
