Library, Friday

From the way things had sounded on the radio, Billy had a feeling he'd have more visitors than usual today. So, he spent the early part of his shift making sure the library was in order, putting books back where they belonged and checking for anything strange - typically strange, not new!strange. He was kind of hoping there wouldn't be any of that today, but he also knew how far hope usually got people here.

Joker looked over at her with a bit of concern. "Hey, hey... Pretty eyes shouldn't be so tired. Get yourself a nap -- the rest of us can handle finding absolutely nothing useful on our own for a little while. Or at least grab some caffeine."

She looked up at him with a little confused smile. "Caffeine--" Elizabeth started. Then it dawned on her. "Oh! Coffee! I'd forgotten... thank you." She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "It's been a while, I'm sorry."

"You... forgot about coffee?" Joker asked, confused. He realized he had no idea who she was and came to the obvious conclusion. "They don't have coffee in the fifteenth century?!?"

"The second century, actually," Elizabeth replied. "Rome. They didn't have a lot of things we take for granted now."

And her 'now' was early 20th century, at that. "Even the music was... something else."

"Well of course it would be something else. It definitely wouldn't be what it is," Joker agreed. "Soooooo... second century Fandom? This is just getting weirder and weirder. Hi, I'm Jeff, by the way, but you can call me Joker."

"I'm Elizabeth," she said, feeling faintly like she should courtesy, though that instinct had been largely repressed over the past few months. Instead she smiled. "...Do people really call you Joker? You must be a funny man."
