Self-Expression- Monday- 4th period
"When you signed up for this class- assuming you actually signed up for it- you prooobably figured that there would be some kind of public speaking involved," Kitty began when everyone had gotten to the classroom. "For those of you who hate this sort of thing... sorry. But the point of this is to try and get you guys to express yourselves the way you want to, so we're going to start out slow.
"How you talk and what you say is how most people are going to figure who you are. And it can be completely nervewracking to communicate with people, I know. Especially if you're naturally quiet, or not comfortable in a situation, or have trouble finding the right words to get your point across. So let's share some tips. What makes it easier to talk to people, especially in a setting like this one? And then once we've dished, we're going to do a little bit of that speaking. So let's start with you."

Speaking
"Now I want everyone to do a little bit of speaking. Not anything too in-depth. I just want you to stand up and talk for a minute about something you either like or don't like, and try to really get across to us the why of why you like or don't like it. I'll let you take a minute to figure out what you want to say."
[Handwave as needed! You can just say how you did.]
Re: Speaking
The topic wasn't anything earth shattering. He'd almost went with how much he liked girls but didn't want to get inappropriate in class. So, he went with how much he liked sleep. He didn't thin he'd have to change anyone's minds here but hey, he threw in lots of health benefits, the awesomeness of having dreams and that you were almost always warm and cozy in bed.
Sleep was awesome.
Re: Speaking
"I really don't like the cold!" he said vehemently. "I mean, I'm from a desert. And sure, the nights can get pretty cold, but you can always stay inside. Plus the ground stays pretty warm from the day's sunlight and the radiation."
Maybe that part was just Night Vale.
"Anyway, when you're out and doing things during the day, it's nice and warm and dry, and you don't need - ugh - like, a zillion layers just to keep from freezing! You can still move around, and it takes a lot less time to get ready, and it's really just much more pleasant!"
...he could probably go on, but he suspected his minute was up.

When she stood up, though, she clasped her hands behind her back to remove the temptation to use her gifts. Instead, she used her minute to talk about how much she loved to read -- the feel of pages between her fingers, the smell of a freshly-bound book, and the escapism she craved.
Talk to Kitty
Okay no but she totally has been.
