"Good morning, Ms. Sullivan, Ms. Gilmore. Your assignment is a simple one. In class today, please write fifty words on why impersonation is wrong, or which circumstances might find it acceptable. Because we're doing this today, you have until tomorrow to turn in your assignment on campus couples. Questions?"

John wonders what he will do in his continuing adventures as a hat.

Xander, wandering past the classroom on his way to Art-History-by-way-of-some-coffee, and happily wearing his no longer missing shirt, blinked when he saw Rory holding the Hat That He Did Not Know Was John.

"The Mountie gave you his hat?" So not cool. He didn't sound at all aggrieved.

"No, no," Rory said, shaking her head. "Professor Skeeter turned John into a hat. Though I did get to wear Constable Fraser's hat last week. Did you know he's forty-five?"

John is forlorn that, even though, hello, BOY AS A HAT, Rory and Xander still wanna talk about Fraser.

Xander wasn't really sure which of those to reply to first. Probably not the middle one, since the first response that came to mind was clearly irrational and prompted by the need for coffee. And the last one was clearly insane and possibly prompted by Rory's need for coffee, so...

"She turned John into a...hat. Was she trying for rat and she's just a bad speller?"

"Ya think?" Xander fingers John's brim. "Constable Mountie said I looked good in his hat, but I dunno. Not that I saw me in it, but somehow I suspect it's better on him."

Of course, being a hat, he only felt the swish of the fingers but FINGERED!

Xander totally is not jealous at all that Constable Fraser said the same thing to Rory. Which is why he isn't frowning. Or flicking John's brim now.

"What if John stays a hat?" he asks, while not frowning. "You think another Mountie would automatically show up to wear him, kind of like you can't have Oreos without milk, or the Captain without Tenille?"

John feels the flicking and catches some of Xander's hair in some webbing of the hat and pulls!

Chloe gets a little caught on the idea of John remaining in hat form before she can think about the joy another Mountie would bring to the school. "Who knows? I bet our current Mountie would have to notify someone though. See if maybe there's anyone poor and hatless in the force."

"Ow, dude! You're a mean hat." Xander pulls on John until he lets go. "See if you get any Twinkies."

He frowns, except really this time, not pretending not to frown frowning. "Do magic hats eat? Would he starve if he stayed a hat and we couldn't figure out what he's supposed to eat?"
