"So, I know we did a movie last week, but Mr. Hansen couldn't make it in today, so we've got another easy day," Raleigh said. "Better than a day spent doing laps, right?"

And he even picked a fun movie! With a vague connection to the subject.

"Next time I'll make popcorn," Raleigh promised, putting the DVD in.

"Hey," Raleigh said, shifting over to one of the desks closer to her.

"Hey back," Alana said, with a distracted half-smile. "I don't get this movie. Are we supposed to like the main guy?"

"I think so?" He was do not at the stage where he got the underlying themes beyond punching people. "More than the other guy at least."

"Huh," Alana said thoughtfully. "I don't like the part with the support groups. People who are really sick go to those, you know?"

"Maybe the lesson is that no one is a good person?" Which was a real downer, if you asked him.

"Maybe," Alana granted. "The guy with the tits is pretty good, right? Maybe you can only be good if you're a little dumb."

This was also a downer.

"...maybe a happier movie next time I get to pick."

Just maybe!

"Well," Alana said, trying to make him feel better, "it does match the class, so that's good!"

"Fighting isn't always messed up like that," Raleigh insisted. "Yancy and I get into fights all the time."

Good natured and brotherly fights usually, so...

"Like, you hit each other?" Alana asked, intrigued. "Who usually wins?"

Yancy.

"We both do. It's mostly just rough housing."

If Alana suspected 'we both do' meant Yancy -- and she did -- she was smart enough not to point that out. Instead, she nodded.

"So after this class, you'll be able to pull out some sick moves and take him by surprise," she said. "Is that why you took it?"

Because she was kind like that.

"Well, I can't let him get lazy."

Alana snorted her amusement.

"I bet," she said. "Hey ... so, we should hang out sometime."

Smoothest segue ever.

Raleigh was totally wooed by it, at least!

"Maybe a better movie?" he suggested.

"I could pick it this time?" Alana suggested slyly. "You doing anything tomorrow night?"

"Definitely," he agreed with a quick grin of his own. "I can bring food."
