Hand-To-Hand Combat & Self Defense, Tuesday

"So, I know we did a movie last week, but Mr. Hansen couldn't make it in today, so we've got another easy day," Raleigh said. "Better than a day spent doing laps, right?"

And he even picked a fun movie! With a vague connection to the subject.

"Next time I'll make popcorn," Raleigh promised, putting the DVD in.

Alana really didn't get this movie -- it just wasn't her type of story at all -- but at least the guy in it was pretty. She decided to focus on that and not on the blood and guts.

"Hey back," Alana said, with a distracted half-smile. "I don't get this movie. Are we supposed to like the main guy?"

"Huh," Alana said thoughtfully. "I don't like the part with the support groups. People who are really sick go to those, you know?"
not_a_moonie: ([neu] oh yeah?)

"Maybe," Alana granted. "The guy with the tits is pretty good, right? Maybe you can only be good if you're a little dumb."

This was also a downer.

"Well," Alana said, trying to make him feel better, "it does match the class, so that's good!"

"Like, you hit each other?" Alana asked, intrigued. "Who usually wins?"

If Alana suspected 'we both do' meant Yancy -- and she did -- she was smart enough not to point that out. Instead, she nodded.

"So after this class, you'll be able to pull out some sick moves and take him by surprise," she said. "Is that why you took it?"

Alana snorted her amusement.

"I bet," she said. "Hey ... so, we should hang out sometime."

Smoothest segue ever.

Billy was not, actually, a fan of violent movies, and he spent a good part of the movie flinching at all the punching. Apparently, learning defense himself didn't make him happier about watching people fight.

Most of the movie was culturally specific and went right over Mordin's head, but he did pick up on the ill-defined anti-consumerist vibe. He hardly agreed, and found the brutish punching matches as a solution to be a little too krogan for his tastes. All in all, not his favorite human film so far.

I knows that feels. :( (It's pseudo-Monday so I don't get coffee until after I go down and tell all the fresh-faced new employees about how the world will end if they shred that memo before its time.)

IDGAF what you shred, wrong-stater. (Actually your agency is lah-di-dah special and partially immune to my agency's rules even in our state. :-P)

Your current agency is the one with immunities on our side of the border! [Our version of] your former agency isn't exempt; they're just a freaking mess, which I'm sure surprises you not at all.
